NYU Fall 2014 ABSN

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello,

I have noticed there isn't a thread for those applying for NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014. Let's share feedback, advice, stats, etc... I went to an open house today at NYU. They really do stress that since there is no interview, the personal statement is our chance to prove ourselves. They also said they get about 1,000 applicants and a Fall entrance class usually have about 150 students in it.

What part of the application process are you in?

How is the personal statement going?

How many pre-reqs do you have left?

awesome! im glad we both still have a chance. Who told you that this is the last week for acceptances/rejections? And is it true they only send it out on Tuesdays/Thursdays?

@rsharif27 it seems like they only send decisions out on Tuesday and Thursday through e-mails, but I can't be completely sure. That's the pattern, I believe, they have been following for the duration of the application period. Their website states they will be making decisions until June 15th and someone above also confirmed it with the admissions office. Good luck to us, tomorrow might be the day!

None of my transfer credit has posted online, but I got a print out in my welcome package. Have you gotten that package yet?

I received an email this morning that I am on the wait list.

Does anyone know the date they gave those accepted to either accept or decline?

Also, how their wait list typically works? Since its rolling admissions, are those that have just been put on the wait list last or is it a point system perhaps? Just seems unfortunate with the way they review applications..

I also emailed and called but always find phone conversations with admissions there particularly unhelpful - am I alone in this?

Thanks all for any info!

Wow! You know nothing about me and my day-to-day to say that. NYU's decision will have a large impact on the next step in my life so why try to invalidate my sentiments by saying "it isn't much"? Thank God you are not a nurse because you come across as condescending. Is that how you would talk to patients and their families/friends who are anxious, stressed, or frustrated? Healthcare workers need to be personable and empathetic not obnoxious and offensive. Please check yourself.

@jamaral I got my "wait listed" email yesterday morning. I have a 3.83 overall GPA and a 3.6 in my pre-requisites. This is upsetting, but at least it is not a rejection. I was under the impression, from reading previous threads, that NYU did not employ a wait list, it was just accept/deny. And I am wondering about the same things as you (also, I hate calling admissions there too, you are not alone). I wonder if they have a list made based on who they would give the first seats to, second seats to, etc... if so, I would want to know where I am on that list.

My parents keep telling me to forget NYU, a nurse is a nurse, they're too expensive, etc. I got into a bunch of other schools, much cheaper ones. But now, my competitive side is coming out lol. Hopefully they will keep us updated like the e-mail says.

Congrats to everyone, again, who got in on the first shot!

My parents told me the same thing (a nurse is a nurse wherever) and I am taking their advice. I got my acceptance letter last week but I will not be attending NYU so hopefully my spot takes someone that doesn't mind having a large amount of debt off the wait list. The financial aid package was horrible. I received a better/cheaper deal for another school. Hopefully one day I may be able to attend NYU.

I was accepted as a transfer traditional BSN

Goodluck to you all.

I am in my second semester at NYU ABSN program here at NYU, and was in your situation not to long ago.

If you have any questions, I will be more than willing to answer.

Reading previous posts there are a few of you whom are becoming impatient. I understand, but NYU gets over 2000 applicants and accepts

Personally I think NYU doesn't consider grades as much as they consider experience and diversity. I know of several students in the program that are 3.0+ students, but have extensive experience that grades cannot buy.

Stay positive, continue to breath, and everything will work out.

Goodluck to you all.

How do you like it there so far. I don't think I will accept the offer

I love it, the teachers actually care, the curriculum is set up for students to succeed. Not to mention that NYU is one of THE best schools in the country. Most students get recruited by hospitals for immediate employment.

I am so happy with my decision. The city is beautiful, everyone is happy, and the cohort really sticks together.

Yes the school is expensive, but you have to understand that having a nursing license and a degree from NYU makes you separated from other nurses.

Choose wisely. Today decides tomorrow.
