NYU Fall 2014 ABSN

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello,

I have noticed there isn't a thread for those applying for NYU Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014. Let's share feedback, advice, stats, etc... I went to an open house today at NYU. They really do stress that since there is no interview, the personal statement is our chance to prove ourselves. They also said they get about 1,000 applicants and a Fall entrance class usually have about 150 students in it.

What part of the application process are you in?

How is the personal statement going?

How many pre-reqs do you have left?

@nora79, @aestela88 I am also still waiting on an admission decision via e-mail. It truly is taking forever. I paid an enrollment fee at another college because I hadn't heard back from NYU and didn't want to lose a seat. NYU is truly my first choice. I do hope no news is good news and we will hear soon. Good luck to us!

for those who have recently got in, do you mind sharing your stats? gpa wise?

I'm also still waiting on a decision. I called last week to see what was going on and was told if I didn't hear anything by the end of this week, to call back and see what the deal is. I'm sure we're all anxious but it shouldn't be too much longer. To those that have been accepted already, congratulations! To those of you who have been denied or are still waiting, best of luck!

I got in May 6. Had 3.06 undergrad GPA with a Bio degree from UC Santa Cruz. Pre-req GPA was 3.82. Retook almost half my pre-reqs. Lots of volunteer experience. Got into NYU, UCLA, and University of San Francisco (although rejected from 5 other schools). Turned down NYU because it was too expensive for only a BSN.

Hope you all get in! ^__^ Good luck on your path to nursing however it may be!

I am also waiting and fed up of it. I called last week and was told that this week they would be finished with the decisions. Today I was told next week. Wow. I wouldn't even be upset if they don't take me seeing how they run things there and string people along.

Considering they've had all this time sending out decisions, both acceptances and declines... the whole "no news is good news" makes sense. You would think by now they've seen all of the applications so for those that haven't heard anything yet, there's still something in your app that is worth contemplating about. You may not have been super high-speed where you were instantly admitted but at the same time, maybe there is something standing out about you that didn't warrant no consideration at all. I'm just happy there's some space for subjectiveness in the process.

On the other hand, some of you don't have anymore time to wait and send in deposits, etc. The specific date I was given for final decisions when I called today was the 15th. Don't stress out too much the next week! Oh and @bby1, I'm sure someone else declined/waitlisted/still waiting would be glad to take that spot! ;)

I don't even know why you wrote that to me. I would be happy to get a spot. I never said I don't want a spot. I said I won't be upset if I don't get accepted. I was venting out of frustration from being given the run around. Sheesh.

No hard feelings/nothing personal, just a little joke there. Personally, I'm ecstatic to know there's still a chance to get in and I have something likable in my app. I wouldn't call it so much a run around... if they need another week to consider the last batch out of thousands that applied and we're still in there, we should consider ourselves lucky/proud/relieved. We could have just as easily received that denial this week. Either way, I'll do what I need to do to get where I want.

I like to save some room for optimism, in our desired line of work, being given the run around isn't much to get frustrated about... but I'm no nurse yet, what do I know?

For those that go into nyu, under transfer credit on nyu Albert I have no credits or anything. Is that ok ? I don't know why it doesn't show any of my transfer credits

Hi all,

I am currently in my third sequence at NYU and its going really great! I wish all of you guys the luck to get in :)) It was very anxious for me as well. Hang in there.

i still haven't heard an answer yet either. The only thing I had was in April where the Admission officier sent me an email and asked me to resend my transcripts because they lost it/didn't receive it. I thought that was a good sign since on the Application I had to post my grades--if my grades were bad or weren't good enough---they wouldn't bother to ask me to resend my transcripts. I don't know, thats my theory lol. But like I kind of need to know the answer if I got accepted or not. I hope they don't just "forget" to send me the results of my acceptance/rejection. I need to know where I am going this september. The waiting process is painful :( I hope everyone who is waiting gets accepted! I hope "no news" is "good news." :)

@rsharif27 The same exact thing happened to me and I had the same theory that if I was totally unworthy they wouldn't bother asking me to re-send my transcripts! I had also confirmed that they were, in fact, received so I didn't have to continue worrying. They alerted me to the fact that my transcripts were missing 3 days before the final deadline, so, needless to say, I was totally nervous they wouldn't get there in time. But, they did. I haven't heard anything back yet either and it has been such a long time waiting. I got into several other ABSN programs, but NYU is truly my first choice and I hope to hear good news this week since there are only 7 days left before they are finished sending out decision letters. Good luck to us all and congrats to those who have already been accepted!
