NYU BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi everyone,

There was no forum for NYU BSN applicants, so I thought I'd start one. Hello, is there anybody out there?

Hey everyone, I will be attending NYU in the fall and I'm wondering what you all are doing about housing? I know we have the option to live in NYU housing but I'm terrified of ending up with a 19 year old roommate or something. At the same time, the whole apartment search process seems to intimidating. Thoughts?

@melmo27 Where are you from? I got the welcome packet in the mail and it talked alot about housing, but it seemed to be geared towards incoming freshman and did not talk so much about the housing for older students. One thing the packet said that did sound neat was that there was a shuttle that came around to the NYU housing and took you to the campuses. If you could get an older roommate- it sounds like it would be pretty convenient. My own plan is to get an apartment- which does sound very complicated since I am coming from out of state. I was to go up there a few weeks before I move with my dad and to get him to cosign for me for an apartment. However, I have no idea what area or borough would be best.

@ktg80 I'm from about an hour and a half outside of the city, but I'm currently at school about 4 hours upstate. I'm going to call tomorrow and see what the deal is- it seems like most upperclassmen live in apartment style housing but again, that could equate to living with four new transfer sophomores or something. i think my other option would be getting a place in Brooklyn, though that would definitely add some time onto the commute. I think once I get all the facts I will see what makes more sense (economically, psychologically, and whatnot).

@melmo27 I think the hard thing is that even though I may find a place convenient to the campus- I heard that out clinicals can be in any of the boroughs. So I am concerned about spending forever on the subway getting around. I honestly do not know the best thing to do. I live in Houston so this is all new to me.

It seems that people are leaning towards renting an apartment rather than university housing. For university housing, I think age is taken into consideration because the housing application asks for your class standing. Clinicals in other boroughs might not be so bad since they are every other week right?

Yes- that's a good point. I forgot that clinicals are not every week. Do you know how many days a week we are in class?

Thank you g0090, I'm waiting to hear back. My gpa is lower but my pre-req gpa is high. I also am a certified phlebotomist and I'm still volunteering. I hope that I am accepted.

@ktg80 How many days we are in class is going to be determined by what course schedule you can work out. I'm guessing at least four weekdays.

Got my NYU welcome packet Saturday in the mail. I am excited but afraid all at once. I don't qualify for aide since I used it for my previous BS degree. Student loans for me all the way. I also got into LIU and waiting for PACE. Pace was my 1st choice but now torn btn NYU and PACE. What are your opinions between both programs. Anyone whobatttended atttended these programs that can give some insight.

So it's a new week! I am hoping that our financial aid posts in the next few days. If anyone has good news- please share!

Hi all,

Congrats to those of you who were accepted!! Unfortunately, my application was DENIED! However, I was advised to reapply for the Spring! I am highly considering it.. Has anyone ever been rejected and then reapplied? I am not giving up hope! My GPA was a 2.32...

Hi, I'm new to this forum and have been reading the post about financial aid. I applied for nyu fall 2012 and checked the box for financial aid. I was wondering if I was missing something and if I was suppose to send something in to qualify for financial aid? I was planing on doing my FAFSA but it isn't complete yet. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks
