Hi everyone,
There was no forum for NYU BSN applicants, so I thought I'd start one. Hello, is there anybody out there?
Congratulations to those that were accepted! I am anxiously waiting for a reply, I applied in February so I am extremely nervous now. They had contacted me to confirm that I am taking a Microbiology class so I don't know whether or not to take that as a good sign or bad, does anyone have an opinion?! Thanks!!!!
I would definitely take that as an GOOD sign. They are pretty hectic over there, so if they took time out to call you personally then I am sure you're in!!! Keep us posted!
In response to katemary, I'm finishing up my third year in college and have an overall 3.6 college gpa, and a 3.9 in the prerequisites. I don't think this is what is needed to get accepted though. I'm pretty sure that if your essays were solid they would accept a 3.3 or so overall gpa. Unlike many BSN programs, NYU accepts a lot of students so they are able to be lenient in areas. What I have learned from my experiences as well as my other pre-nursing friends is that persistence is the key. If you don't get accepted to your first choice school, more often then not there will be another opportunity, and it might even be better than what you initially planned. I hope this helps, the waiting process is brutal, but good luck nonetheless! Oh and I volunteered at my local Hospital for over 100 hours when I applied.
As soon as I hear from financial aid I will start a facebook group if one is not started already ... I'm still waiting to hear back from a few other school in the northeast and what they will offer for aid as well.
I had a 3.8 for a previous degree in Anthropology/Social work and 4 A's and 2 B+'s for pre-reqs. I was a Peace Corps volunteer in East Africa for 2 years, thats where the word 'mzungu' comes from, it means white person in Swahili.
I can't wait to meet everyone, I'm about 99% sure I'll be accepting this offer to NYU. Good luck to everyone else still waiting.
That is impressive! Congrats on your acceptance! I am extremely nervous since I will only be graduating from UCONN in May so I don't have the same experience. It seems that they sent out the notifications again today, does anyone know if they send them on Fridays; maybe I still have hope?! I am getting so nervous.
