NYU ABSN Spring 2021

Published

Hi all. I'm starting a forum for NYU Spring 2021. I know the application goes live soon so might as well make one now.

I applied for Fall 2020 but didn't get in so I'm applying for the second time. Good luck to us all!

no rejection, no acceptance....w a I t I n g

Got accepted about an hour ago. So sorry to hear some didn't hear back good news. However I wouldn't be attending since I’m going to attend john hopkins MSN program. Hope that saves a seat for someone. Keep achieving your goals!

My checklist is still there, nothing has changed ?

Hi all -

First off, congrats to everyone that got in so far and for those who didn’t this time, don’t give up as you can always apply to other programs or even reapply to NYU if this is your dream program. And for those waiting, hang on!

I was accepted to the non-accelerated program and have a few questions that some of you may know the answers to:

1. how much is the entire program (only including tuition and fees). The financial aid bill said roughly 28k for Spring 2021. So 28k x 4 = 112k in total?

2. I’m only missing 1 prereq that NYU didn’t accept. If I attend, would I take the class along with nursing courses this Spring? Or would I just take that 1 prereq this Spring and have to wait until the next semester to start nursing classes? It doesn’t make sense that way though because I’d be paying 28k for 1 class?

Hey,

I also recieved a rejection today, I was pretty surprised as I was accepted into John Hopkins MSN entry program. I am curious if anyone can speak to how competitive the program at NYU compares to JHU as well as Columbia. Columbia is my top choice but I do not want to risk losing my spot at JHU if I don't have chance of getting into Columbia. The rejection from NYU has definitely shaken my confidence.

Thanks!

I also got into the MSN program at JHU as well as the ABSN program for nyu. I wouldn’t know the competitiveness of these programs but I would guess NYU is harder because of a higher applicant pool. I heard in another forum that jhu accepts roughly 50 percent of their applicants which is surprising because its ranked 1 for their MSN program. Columbia I would say is the toughest because it has the least seats available. I was rejected from Rutgers and not these other programs which I would say is solely because of the seat availability.

Johns Hopkins is a waaaaaay better school than NYU....and more reputable. From what I have heard NYU really likes accepting those who are not looking to use financial aid. Which is unfortunate as they claim to “diverse”

@Nurse90 I am not sure who you are but I am confident you’ll get into Columbia if you got into Johns Hopkins. I would totally shake NYU to be honest.....shame on them for rejecting AMAZING applicants. And just remember... even if a school is “harder” to get into does not mean it is the school that is going to best prepare you as a registered nurse and that does not mean it is higher ranked or a better program.

Every school has its own criteria. You'll often seen certain people get accepted to better schools and then rejected to certain state schools. Some state schools become more competitive than top 50 universities because of seats and tuition cost. Do not discount certain programs because you think its better or worse. You could be a shoe in for one and not another.

That being said if you got in JHU, congrats its a very good school. For those who didn't get in, there are many ABSN programs. Don't give up.

You would take that 1 prereq this Spring and wait until the next semester to start nursing classes. So it would be the ~112k as you calculated, plus the ~8k for one class in Spring = ~120k total

Hi all,

I will be graduating from the NYU accelerated program in about a week!

Hey! That’s so exciting ? Congratulations on graduating!! I just wanted to ask if it was absolutely necessary to buy all the textbooks that the school recommends? Or were you able to find most of the textbooks online in pdf form? Thanks!

hey has anyone applied to LIU Brooklyn? I just got in for Spring
