NYU ABSN Spring 2018!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

I was curious if anyone was applying to NYU ABSN program for the Spring of 2018! I have a Bachelors of Art in Communication with a business emphasis; I am currently taking prerequisites and applying this summer.

I was accepted also! Does anyone know if there is a page for accepted students? I need to find a roommate asap!

They did a facebook page!

Hey everyone! I got accepted on 10/27 but the email went to my spam folder! It was NOT the same address I'd previously gotten emails from so definitely check there if you're worried! But it was also posted on Albert :) I am accepting the offer and look forward to meeting you guys!

My stats are:

Undergrad GPA - 2.75 (yes, I'm not lying that is real)

Prerequisite GPA - 3.0

BS in Exercise Science earned in 2013

Master of Public Health will be earned this December and that GPA is a 3.9

Worked as a physical therapy aide for three years so I have 1000s of hours of healthcare experience there, but none in nursing at all

I sent in two strong letters of recommendation, and do have an extensive background doing a variety of community service things so I'm sure both those things helped me. My personal statement was also very clear and answered the questions directly. When I went to an admissions meeting in February the admissions director told us exactly what he wanted us to say (which was the same as the prompt we got on the app) and that we needed to be concise and clear in answering the prompt questions otherwise we would significantly reduce our chances. They really want to see students that know what they want and can convince them as to why they're choosing nursing as a second career now. And the woman I met with at NYU in February did say they like to see volunteer work so if you have that that'll help too! Clearly they do look at your trend in grades because for this program they're really not interested in my MPH and flat out told me that, but they could see that I have made a significant improvement since undergrad. So if you're like me and some of your original undergrad grades are horrible but you've either taken prereqs or done other coursework since then and have excelled in them, you have a good chance still!! Good luck everyone!!!

Im curious, what did it look like on Albert when it was posted there? My account has just been showing me that all of my materials were submitted so i was wondering!

i sent them a copy of my unofficial transcript as well so they would have seen that it's only 2 credits. do you think this is something that would cause me to lose my acceptance?

in Albert in the top right corner above the chart thing that lists what they've received from you, a purple rectangle shaped button appeared that said "Admission Decision" in it. You really can't miss it once it's there!

I think you would only see a purple rectangle shaped button if you have been accepted into the program.

I had previously applied a couple years ago to a different program at NYU and did not get accepted and I still had the purple "Admission Decision" button show up then too, it just said my decision was that I was rejected once I clicked on it. But they do still email you the decision letter too so that's the most fool proof way to know what your answer is.

Hello all,

I applied for the regular deadline still waiting to hear back. Congrats to those accepted.

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted!

Did you all receive an email notifying you of a decision or did you check Albert and had just found out on your own?

i checked on my own but i noticed afterwards that an email was sent to me notifying me that the decision was ready but it went to my spam folder

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!

Thats my statistics for anyone who's applying for the fall!

I had my application in by the priority deadline and had my acceptance letter on Nov 3rd (I don't know if that helped).

My GPA is 3.7, and that's my grades for prerequisites:

Anatomy1 - A-

Anatomy2 - A+

Nutrition - A+

Stats - A

Life Span - A

Macrobio - B-

Chem - A-

I had three good recommendation letters from my professors and strong personal statement.

For everyone who got accepted, is anyone planning on taking out loans?

Does anyone have nutrition left to take during the winter intersession? Also, is anyone from Long Island and planning on commuting if they get in!

Hey there!

I will be commuting from Long Island, at least for the beginning of the program.
