NYU ABSN Fall 2018

Hello all,

I decided to start a thread for the NYU accelerated nursing program since I have not seen one for fall 2018:)

Anybody else doing research on private student loans want to connect? The financial aid department at NYU is not allowed to really advise regarding private loans, though they do offer this list of lenders: Financial Aid and Scholarships

How much could you get from the federal government？

I don' have all of my prereqs because i still have to take nutrition and microbio and the chem that NYU requires, the chem I took was 3 credits, so I assume i have to take their chem also. But the prereqs i did take:

A&P 1 w. lab- A

A&P 2 w. lab- B+

Stats- A+

Developmental psych- A+

I had 1 letter of recommendation from my manager at work and wrote my personal statement. From there I just prayed I got in. In my personal statement I was just myself. I explained my goals and what I wanted to do with my potential nursing career, also explained the obstacles I went through and how I did not get accepted into my current school's nursing program. From there i think it's just luck because they probably get thousands of applicants and even the most qualified people still get rejected.

I spoke with a current ABSN student who started Spring 2018, she took out private loans through a bank. So thats what i am looking into as well.

I am so nervous! I applied to the non-accelerated program in early Feb and I have not heard back :(

same, but the wait is still horrible. I tried to ask if the decision for my app was done yet just in case my albert wasnt showing it, but the lady wouldnt tell me much. All she said was decisions will go out on a rolling basis and we should find out before June 15.... :( i just want to start planning everything out considering i would be heading there from CA

Yeah that's a hard situation! But hopefully it will be way before june 15th! Just keep checking your Albert since a few people said their decision was posted on Albert before they got an email!

How much could you get from the federal government？

I called financial aid today and was told I should get information about what I am eligible for around Wednesday next week.

I think I could get a maximum of $12,500 in Federal Government loans, so a small fraction of the total cost. I was/am expecting to take out private loans.

Hopefully next week I get full clarity on what my options are and how to proceed.

All things considered, based on my situation, I am definitely leaning toward doing this NYU program.
