I am looking into applying for the NYU ABSN Fall 2016 program. I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips and thoughts on what I should know when applying for the program.

I submitted mine back in January. I called to confirm my transcripts and they got that, just waiting for my LOR (sent a couple of days before the deadline). But she said they prolly got them.
Btw, is this the only school y'all are applying to? I'm also applying to University of Rochester

Hi all, I am also applying to NYU ABSN fall 2016. My GPA is not far as competitive as those of you that have posted your stats. But i figure i will put mine out there and hopefully receive some insightful feedback from anyone that has been accepted or knows of people that have a similar situation as mine.
I graduated from Nassau Community College with an Associates- GPA 3.25
Received my Bachelors of Science in Health Science from Stony Brook- GPA 3.2
I believe my science pre req gpa is a 3.1 as of now but i am currently taking Micro & Nutrition which should boost my pre req
GPA to a 3.3. I have several years working in healthcare and volunteer experience. 7 years at a Doctors office and 5 months at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center.
I am not sure what my chances are of getting accepted but my fingers are crossed!!
Any feedback is welcomed.

Hey guys, I'm finishing up my first semester in the accelerated program at NYU. If you guys have any questions about the application, or school itself, whatever you want - feel free to ask!
All the best,

What is the N# where you get to check the stats?
Your N number is your University ID number (it's where different offices can look up your information, like financial aid etc.), you should also get a Net ID which should be the initials of your name, and then 3/4 numbers after it. You use the net ID more than you do the N number ( I use that to log into NYU classes, email, the printing station etc)
In terms of checking the status of your application, you will get emails. I got my admissions decision via email, but you can check the status of documents they've received through NYU Albert I believe.
- Also, you guys usually get the N number about two weeks after submitting your application so don't be nervous if you didn't get it yet.

Hello Nicole! I was wondering more about the financial part of the program. How are most students able to afford going to school there?
Hey Justeen23!
Oh man so much to say on financial aid lol - Basically - it boils down to if this is your second degree or not, and if it is, how much of your federal student loans were used for your first degree. Once it is your second degree, you're automatically ineligible for Pell Grants, and can only use whatever remaining money you have for your lifetime limit for federal loans (I think dependent students is ~32k and independent is ~52k).
NYU gives one scholarship that I know of for financial need, it's $2,500, but other than that theres not much they give you.
There is also something called the Federal Nursing Loan which NYU can give you based on financial need, I got $5,200. But the rest I had to pay out of pocket, a small amount of federal loans from what I have left to use for undergraduate, and I took out a Sallie Mae loan. I'm from NJ so I don't qualify for TAP (NY's Tuition Assistance Program) but if you're from NY that may help somewhat.
For the most part, it's basically federal loans, and private loans. NYU does not give a lot of scholarships- there are some academic scholar, but they're based off of your GPA in nursing school so it doesn't help for all of us in the first semester, and I also hear they are really hard to get.
Hope this helps!

Hey Nicole!
Thanks for offering your advice up to us! What was your gpa when applying to the program? Did you apply by the priority or the regular deadline? And lastly, when did you receive your acceptance email? I'm sure you know the waiting game is the worst part!

Thank you Nicole for taking time out of busy schedule to offer feedback and answer some of our questions.
How does a day to day schedule look like for ABSN student at NYU? Advice on studying tips? Professors ? Anything will be helpful. Thanks
Hey Alisa!
My pleasure! My overall GPA was a 3.65 and I had a science GPA of 3.8. I had A's in all the pre-reqs (except a B statistics - not a math fan lol. I applied regular deadline, I applied I think October 1st, and just checked my old email - i got the acceptance email November 16th at 12:30pm.
Trust me I know the agony lol and the constant refreshing of your inbox :), that's why I joined these forums, because we were all posting if we heard back or not lol.
It seemed like they let people know who were on the west coast first (i think it was the first week of Nov), because they need more time to make plans to move here, then they start letting people on the east coast know. But just so you know, we were told both priority and regular deadline hear back at the same time, not sure why, but I heard back along with other people that had done the priority deadline.
