Hi everyone! I signed up for New York-Presbyterian's new grad meet and greet event scheduled for next week, Nov. 24th, and I have just received a confirmation email to inform me what time I'm scheduled to meet them. I know in previous meet and greet, people would receive a nurse battery test after the interview if they passed. For this meet and greet, they send you the career battery test after you've registered for the event. I thought maybe it's because they want to wean out some applicants before the meet and greet. My question is, did I pass this career battery test and that's why I'm able to attend this meet and greet, or is it really just a confirmation email stating that I can attend the event? I'm wondering if anyone else is thinking about this too. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Hi dee789,Yea the event was found on the career website where you can see what events they have coming up. They posted the event on October 23rd and they gave you until November 12th to sign up I believe. I hope the next one will come again soon for those who missed it.
Thanks! I will keep my eye out for the next one.
NYP for some reason recruits new grads from out of state ( I do not mean NJ Or CT...i mean like far out of state like Ohio, Virginia, PA, Indiana, etc) and i guess International ones too as per the above post and most often, hires them. I mean why make them travel and spend on plane ticket if they arent getting the job? Its crazy b/c NYC has plenty of experienced RNs and local new grads that need jobs so why invest in out of state new grads...there is NO nursing shortage in NYC to need to bring new grads from out of the state and out of the country.
Hi NYCGuy86,Yea I heard NYP gives preference to internal applicants, but still don't give up even if you don't know anyone from NYP!
Thanks. I'm actually a nursing student, and literally just got the call after I wrote that for a job as a nursing attendant there. :)
Just wondering (sorry for the derail), does NYP hire new grads into specialties like critical care, ED, OR, step downs, etc., or just into med/surg? I know many big hospital systems have new grad residencies and have like critical care/ED/OR/maternity residencies, but the NYP website doesn't really have much info on specifics...
Hey nycguy. They offer new grad positions in pretty much all units including ER if they have an available spot. As a new grad, you have to attend one of their meet and greats and you pick three specialties you want to be considered for. It's super competitive but they have positions in all areas

Ok great, thanks for the info!
Hi NYCGuy 86,
I'm not sure about whether NYP hire new grads in specialty units or not. Sorry! I just graduated nursing school over the summer and I'm still looking for a job. I did my preceptorship at NYP and built some connections there. I really hope to work there. I've only applied to med/surg positions for now because that's where I want to start like most new grads. Hopefully you can get an answer to that question!

What were all of your scheduled times? How did you all think of it? I was scheduled for 9:35 AM. They really stick to the 20 minute schedule. I had a table of 5, including myself and we basically had about 1 minute to talk about ourselves. Someone kept rambling on at my table and probably spent 2 minutes talking, but the nurse recruiter looked tired already. They said 700 people were making it to the meet and greet, so I don't know if I have a shot at this. It was definitely hard to stand out in a group interview with only about 1 minute to speak. I wish all of us the best of luck! Hopefully we proceed onto the next interview. If anyone has received an email from them, whether it's acceptance or rejection, I'd definitely like to know!
