NYP Meet and Greet January 2016

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi everyone! There are so many topics on the NYP Meet and Greets that I figured I would start one specifically for the meet and greet that was yesterday (1/20/16). Did anyone attend? Did anyone feel that they did well or receive any verbal offers?

I did very well on my interviews with the Patient Care Directors, but bombed the interview with the Talent Acquisition Specialist. For some reason I stumbled over her questions and felt that I didn't answer them all to the best of my ability. I am hoping that the successful interviews with the PCDs will help me to land a position. I was informed that they will be opening positions on the unit according to the number of qualified candidates that they want to hire from the meet and greet.

I figured we can all share information in here about where we are in the post-interview process.

Hi. I was there. Don't think anyone received an offer. They mentioned those who advanced would have to go through another interview. One of the PCDs told me she only had one spot and had 27 candidates during just the interviews yesterday.

Most new grads I know who work at NYP received offers because they extremes/ did clinical and knew managers/ were NAs or Techs before.

From previous years' posts seems like we'll get an email at some point stating if we advance or not.

Oh ok. I was told something different so I'm not sure. Many people in the past have been offered positions after the meet and greet. I didn't hear anything about a 2nd interview. I guess we will see.

My interview is next week. I am a little nervous about it. Do you guys have any tips? If you were to be hired, what hospital did they tell you you were going to go to?

Normal interview questions. Lots of situational questions. You only have a minute or two with each interviewer during the meet and greet. Good luck

Is this a follow-up interview after the meet and greet? My tip is to try and remember a few patients who u provided care to who stood out. Also, be prepared to answer the general nursing questions. I don't believe they have told anyone which hospital they are going to yet.

Has anyone had any change to their status yet on the website? Mine still says interview.

No it will be my first interview with them. How come it is different?

Do u have prior experience? If so, that's why. Experienced nurses can apply to any open Staff Nurse position. If you don't have experience, then you got lucky and somehow bypassed the residency program.

I'm a new grad. This is for the new grad position.

Oh ok I see. I guess u just didn't have to go through the same process. The meet and greet was last week and it seems that u were able to bypass the meet and greet and go straight to the interview. Either way, that's great for you. Good luck on your interview!

oh that's weird. I wonder why. I'm intrigued. lol But I think it's because I'm coming out of state.

I am currently working at NYP. I had many friends in college who attended the meet and greet, but didn't get a job at NYP after graduation. Many of the people who were hired in a variety of campuses, I have friends who got jobs in LM, Cornell, and Colombia, didn't even attend the meet and greet. It's all about who you know and what connects you have to get you into the hospital. Sorry to be the pessimist in this thread, but just explore your options and make sure you apply everywhere!
