Hi all!
I will be graduating from nursing school in December 2006. I really should be applying for jobs now... so I was just wondering if you guys can give me a hand :)
Does anyone know how the pay is in Jersey City Medical Center? I live in Jersey City and would love to just commute 5 minutes to and from work. How does the pay in NJ compare to NYC hospitals?
I go to school in Illinois, and the salary here ranges from 35-50 for a new grad :X Does anyone know what the highest salary is so far in the east coast??
Thanks for any advice!

I think the highest paying hospital in jersey is hackensack university medical center...but i am not 100% sure if there is higher. Day shift starts at $64, 000 (7-3) keep in mind you will never work 7-3...evening and night was about $73, 000 that is for associates degree...if you want to know the specifics email me...i worked there so i know...

I havent heard exactly how much JCMC pays (i've heard that they pay well, but i have no specifics), but you have to keep in mind that if you go work at a NYC hosp, they will pay you a little more, but take an arm and a leg out for taxes. I'm applying at a NYC hosp, and i think the pay is $63,000.
I do hear that JCMC has a beautiful new building, and lots of young nurses. I myself didnt go there for clinicals, but a few of my friends did, and they are all planning on applying there.
GOod luck! I'm also intersted in finding this out....

New graduates never get the day shift
It depends on the hospital's need. If you have kids and all you can do is work days, then its worth to keep looking, because you are bound to find a hospital that needs someone in a day shift.

I was offered $29/hr days in Newark NJ, and with incentives, $42/hr in NYC (nights/BSN/RNC cert) While I will get taxed a little extra (city tax) and have to commute 30% further from NJ, I'll still make more, plus they're giving me 10k a year for grad school. Can't beat that.
HI Anyone know if there are any hospitals in NJ that offer 12 hour shifts??
thanks

I only know of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. But I'm sure there are other hospitals. Oh, I'm guessing St. Barnabas too since they're in the same system.
