NYC Residencies

Published

Hi guys!

I'll be graduating this May with my BSN and I'm interested in applying to nurse residencies in NYC. Just curious if anyone could provide some insight to the interview process and how competitive/difficult it is to land a job at one of the big NY hospitals (such as NYP and NYU). Please let me know!

no idea! I'm guessing March/April?

I have been calling a bunch of recruiters and HR departments. I think March/April is when most most will be coming out, though some were unsure.

Hi all! I'm graduating this May and want to apply to peds jobs in NYC as well. So for Mt. Sinai, every new grad position is automatically in the residency program...does anyone know if it is the same for their children's hospital? Will the job postings say New Grad specifically? Does anyone know if NYU does the same thing in regards to the residency program? Very interested in Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone if anyone has any info on their new grad positions/residency...no info about it online either! Thanks in advance!

Hii. I spoke to someone at Mt. Sinai and he said that you can apply to any job and are automatically enrolled. I am not sure if this extends to the children's hospital or not, that is all the information I have. However, you can chat with someone from HR on the website and ask whatever questions you may have! As for the Peds residency, I do not have any info as it is not something I am looking into. Im sorry!

Hi all! Does anyone know when these residencies applications will become available? I am graduating this Spring!

Any new nurse at Mt sinai will be in the residency program no matter when you are hired or what unit you are on. Nyu and nyp on hiring freezes right now not sure of when they will open or if they will have residency program in the Spring

NYU and NYP usually have residency programs to apply into. and then you rank your specialty preferences. those should hopefully open within the next couple months!

Hi there! I was part of the NYU Nurse Residency program back in Fall 2019 so I've worked here for almost 1.5 years now. NYU usually will have a posting on their site that says Fall Graduate RN posting or Spring depending. The hardest part I think is getting HR to notice you. NYU does tend to hire their own students more. I didn't go to NYU but thankfully I had experience working as a nurse intern and as a nurse assistant. Once you do your first interview with HR, you tell them what units you're interested in and they let you know openings and they set you up for interviews with the manager. The hiring freeze seems to be lifted because my unit has had a couple of new nurses start this past month. Let me know if you want to know anything else :)

Hi! Can you PM me? I would love to speak more about the opportunities at NYU with you. Thanks!

How long is NYU's residency program?

Does anybody know how long is takes for the NY license to become official with your name and license number up on the NYSED website?

I'd say a little over a week. I passed my NCLEX on October 30th and my License was available on the NYSED website by November 8th. I think the longest you'll have to wait is 2 weeks if that.

Thank you!!

I applied to the NYU new grad residency program and when I emailed the hr recruiter she said that my application is complete and if a nurse manager is interested they will reach out to me. Im a little worried bcuz she didn't set up a meeting with me - like I've read that HR usually sets up an interview first. Also, if anyone has any recruiters emails id greatly appreciate it Thank u!
