NYC Job Applications

Published

Hi nurses! I recently applied to a job on the NYP website. Literally, no more than 2 hours later, the status of my submitted application changed to "no longer in consideration". I am getting discouraged. Has this happened to anyone else before? Can anyone, who is working or applying to NYP, explain how the process works and what further steps I should take? Thank you for your support.

do you have your license? if not, forget about it especially in NYC.

Yes, I do have my license!

personal opinion here, I feel that it's challenging to get a job in the top hospitals in NYC unless its a residency program. Are you a new grad nurse?

Yes, I am. I finished nursing school from Upstate so I don't really have connections to any places in NYC since I did all my clinicals elsewhere.

I understand, I'm also a new grad and is actively applying now that I received my ATT. FYI northwell health has posted their fellowship for the fall cohort.

I am graduating in May 2021 from a compact state but wanting to apply in NYC. How does the license transfer work and how soon am I able to start applying for a New York license? Once it is transferred, would I even stand a chance of getting into a new nurse residency?

Any advice you have would be great!! ?

Hi,

You can apply for your license at anytime (pay the fee etc..) However you will not receive an ATT code until your school sends your info to the state giving the OK (met requirement) for you to test.

License transfers vary from state to state, I don't know how that will work if you are not from NY state, but can you apply for licensure in NYS to keep it simple.

Its possible to get into a nurse residency because only nurses with less than one year or new grads are eligible, usually.

Specializes in Cardiac, Telemetry.

Hey! I am in currently in a similar situation. I will have 2 years of RN experience as of Dec. I have over a year in cardiac step-down and telemetry. I've applied to 138 jobs with NYC hospitals in the last 2 days and no response. Hasn't been that Long plus COVID. But I definitely did apply before earlier In the year before COVID and still no response LOL. I didn't apply to many beforehand. I'm hoping I get at least ONE call back or at least a friendly rejection and not pure disregard LOL

Hi everybody! I am graduating this May. Does anyone know what the current status of hospitals around the city are? Are there still hiring freezes?

I wouldn't say there are freezes, just super hard. I just got hired at NYP and I believe it was pure luck.
