Nybon Nursing School Under Investigation

I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

The lady told me at this moment, has long the school is not accredited they will not issue anyone that attended an approved nursing school a license.  The decision that was supposed to be made yesterday 9/27/2023 has not been made final. So the April and June emergency action is still in place.  At this moment I don't know what to think off.

What do you mean the decision hasn't changed? They will deny licensure to approved schools that are not on the list or on probation?

Thats correct. I waited 5 months and now I have to retest with another state in order to be licensed.

Again NYS BON is currently only giving licenses to Florida schools that are nationally accredited.. therefore anything listed as approved is only good for the state that it is located in and probationary or closed is are on hold in NYS.

I get people's lively hoods are on the line but people have to realize we are talking over 50 schools that are in this situation with way to many students who are just trying to use NYS as a way of passing and getting a license to go elsewhere as well as anyone who actually wants to work in NYS. That is a lot of information and people to go through not to mention the schools that are actually under review by NYS BON

My school was in the same status when I received an ATTN, no solution for Florida school in probatory status, in my case I have been waiting for more than 6 months for an answer, as if no one care to help in NY BON.

If your school wasn't on probation status when you went to school and recently got on probation they will allow you to tests same happened to another person on here a member on the FL board advised her

That is for Florida and what one state does is not what another state will do.. NYS BON looks at the present day status of what the school is when we are processing application not what the status was for the school when you went there

That makes sense thought the person was referring to text re testing in FL..

NY BON should have not let us test if that was the case. The least NYBON CAN DO NOW at this time after their mistake is to RELEASE OUR PASS SCORE TO FL BON.

I love how people blame NYS BON for they issues their Florida nursing school caused by not following the rules and regulations to keep their national accreditation status

Obviously you're collecting a check you have to stand 10 toes for NY. We went to nursing school and eaRNed the degree and have to fight for ours just as you are. What rules that weren't followed? I'm sure the ones here trying to figure out what's going on wasn't scamming I can't speak for them because I wasn't part of the scam. NY doesn't even have all the schools that were involved listed had to get it from some other states. Why allow people to test when they knew they weren't issuing licenses?? Why not release the scores?? We passed and paid Pearson Vue as they requested.

@Celesty2021

I completely agree. These people's life who are working there don't get affected by this.

First there is NO answers given, No time frame and wonder why we are upset. We all went and earned our degrees. For example my school was closed YeARS ago after me graduating. I even spoke to several nursing programs who are open running in NY with the same accreditation as my school. I even went and spoke to the United State of Health Education and asked for a letter proving my school is accredited and STILL I am waiting. It's make NO sense. I took an NATIONAl exam and passed.

If NY doesn't want us to get a license fine OK but at least transfer our scores back to Florida. As humans, we have the rights stand for what we completed and when something isn't fair or correct.

This is OUT of control already.

This is perfectly stated and @Celesty2021. Had this been made known prior to us testing, it wouldn't be an issue. The fact that NY KNEW they were investigating Florida schools, and still went on to take our money, approve us to test (meaning, we're in good standing to test), but proceed to hold our results is wild. To me, its no different from the fraudulent schools taking folks money and not rendering the proper service. I spent too much time and money dealing with the board of NY. When you ask for a refund, the tell you "only half (which is about $70ish).

I digress.

God got me. I'm going to take this test again because I fought too hard and long through nursing school. I'm not going to let this hold me back. I'm on God's timing...not NYBON. If help is ever needed there, they may see me...if its God's will. Other than that, I'm done with them. There's been a lack long before this Operation Nightingale issue.
