Nybon Nursing School Under Investigation

I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

Good luck with that NY will never own up to their mistakes. They always play victim even as short nurses as they are. Wait till a crisis happens and you'll see them all over the news but I'm sure the ones making the decision will be nowhere near to help. If they pass the exam why not release the scores NY didn't pay Pearson Vue the applicant did

NY BON should have not let us test if that was the case. The least NYBON CAN DO NOW at this time after their mistake is to RELEASE OUR PASS SCORE TO FL BON.

I love how people blame NYS BON for they issues their Florida nursing school caused by not following the rules and regulations to keep their national accreditation status

Obviously you're collecting a check you have to stand 10 toes for NY. We went to nursing school and eaRNed the degree and have to fight for ours just as you are. What rules that weren't followed? I'm sure the ones here trying to figure out what's going on wasn't scamming I can't speak for them because I wasn't part of the scam. NY doesn't even have all the schools that were involved listed had to get it from some other states. Why allow people to test when they knew they weren't issuing licenses?? Why not release the scores?? We passed and paid Pearson Vue as they requested.

I completely agree. These people's life who are working there don't get affected by this.

First there is NO answers given, No time frame and wonder why we are upset. We all went and earned our degrees. For example my school was closed YeARS ago after me graduating. I even spoke to several nursing programs who are open running in NY with the same accreditation as my school. I even went and spoke to the United State of Health Education and asked for a letter proving my school is accredited and STILL I am waiting. It's make NO sense. I took an NATIONAl exam and passed.

If NY doesn't want us to get a license fine OK but at least transfer our scores back to Florida. As humans, we have the rights stand for what we completed and when something isn't fair or correct.

This is OUT of control already.

This is perfectly stated and @Celesty2021. Had this been made known prior to us testing, it wouldn't be an issue. The fact that NY KNEW they were investigating Florida schools, and still went on to take our money, approve us to test (meaning, we're in good standing to test), but proceed to hold our results is wild. To me, its no different from the fraudulent schools taking folks money and not rendering the proper service. I spent too much time and money dealing with the board of NY. When you ask for a refund, the tell you "only half (which is about $70ish).

I digress.

God got me. I'm going to take this test again because I fought too hard and long through nursing school. I'm not going to let this hold me back. I'm on God's timing...not NYBON. If help is ever needed there, they may see me...if its God's will. Other than that, I'm done with them. There's been a lack long before this Operation Nightingale issue.

Again NYS BON is currently only giving licenses to Florida schools that are nationally accredited.. therefore anything listed as approved is only good for the state that it is located in and probationary or closed is are on hold in NYS..

I get people's lively hoods are on the line but people have to realize we are talking over 50 schools that are in this situation with way to many students who are just trying to use NYS as a way of passing and getting a license to go elsewhere as well as anyone who actually wants to work in NYS. That is a lot of information and people to go through not to mention the schools that are actually under review by NYS BON

@ Starr22, So will NYS BON give license to students if their schools get National Accredited now? Because you said NYS BON looks at the present day not the past.

That's ultimately would be the ideal plan for those Florida schools that are just on hold due to the lack of accreditation

NY BON believe will not give the OK due to the big scam and ongoing investigations with other florida schools, It's best to work in the state you are at or go back to school. Your losing time waiting on NY. Unfortunately that means starting from the beginning.

Do you really think a school that's underperforming will get accredited,  I doubt that strongly it would take a couple of years till they can show a good baseline of passing students on first try for at least two to three years before they can apply. Let's not lie to yourself but be realistic.

It is 'Program' accreditation that is needed to continue to be approved after the probation period. That costs $$$ and time, has rigorous standards of curriculum and faculty, and does a deep dive on the financial structure of the school, somethings a for-profit school does not want out there.

Yes guys if you are waiting for NYBON and your school is not accredited, you will not be issued a license. There are a bunch of schools added to federal lists that I am sure NYBON is aware of. They just didn't update their current lists as they are slow to do everything. You cannot even find the last board meeting on the website because they didn't upload it yet and that was in September. I know they have a lot of applications and other things to deal with but they should have already addressed the rest of the remaining applicants that have passed the boards and are awaiting NYBON's response. They should make an official announcement so people know what to do moving forward. Like you guys have previously posted before, if you want a NY RN license then go back to an accredited school. That is the only way. You can also go back to your state and to get your license there but you have to retest since NYBON is not releasing scores. There is nothing more you can do at this point. I think NYBON will stand on this going forward. The days of approved schools are over.
