I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

I don't know about the insurance question but I do know she should make sure her license is in order so that if that is an option she will be able to get the insurance. She should definitely contact NYS BON to make sure she has some leeway on either her surrendering license or have education sent in

I actually went to this school Mendez. I am having the same issue like you do. Can we hook up via email or phone ?
Response to Apple19. Tell your friend she is too late to purchase NSO insurance at this time due to her license now under investigated. She can only purchase if her license is in good condition and before she receive letter from the BON. Tell your friend if she did go to school and finish nursing program from previous school. Get herself a lawyer to help defense her license ASAP. Do not say or admit anything to the BON. They will use that against her. If she truly attend school she should fight for her license. If she give up her license that means she agreed she is fraud and that will effect her creditential if she has LPN license. She will have hard time to work in healthcare in future. School scam us and make us look like we fraud but we are the victim. So stand up for yourself. We are good nurses and not a fraud. There are people who never attend nursing school and just bought the license. But we are not them. We are hard working nurse who truly going to nursing. So please don't give up without a fight. I understand the government want to protect public safety so they are looking at case by case. They also know not everyone is a fraud.
Anyone with contact from a Board of Nursing (BON) needs legal representation to protect their license and livelihood BEFORE making any decision /speaking to BON from a lawyer with experience before nursing board. The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA) is a good place to look for advice.

It's the best $120.00/year spent for defense of my nursing license, thankfully not needed yet in my lengthy career.
