hi, i took it 2 a year ago, it was the peds one, though.... it was pretty basic stuff, nothing out of the ordinary... they gave me a "study guide"... did you get one? everything on there was exactly what was on the test...so just make sure you know how to do everything on the study guide, and you'll do fine...

I took it last month (the peds one) I got the study guide, and did fine. Keep in mind you can't use a calculator or drug guide during the test, so be familiar with the list of drugs, IV fluid maintenance rate calculations, and side effects. The computers were down the day I went, so I had to do it on paper.... Where will you be working?

I am taking the regular exam- for adult care. Can you please tell me how the questions were and where you studied from???

Thanks.

I would also love to hear anything about the adult version of the pharm test. My friend took it when she started working there almost 2 years ago and she said it was kind of tough. I don't know what study materials they gave her, but I can find out the next time I speak to her.

Im taking next week and Im freaking out. I have not yet studied for it. I bought the book and its like 650 pages and I have no idea where to study. I didnt receive a cheat sheet which covers the most common medication they given.

anyone please help and i will appreciate it very much.

does anyone have any idea about the new pharm test they're giving out to new hires? i just got hired at CHONY. the nurse recruiter told me they adopted this new test about 6 months ago. it's called the NLN basic proficiency in medication administration test.

i took the previous peds pharm exam 3 yrs ago when i used to work for the cornell hospital and passed it easily with the study guide they gave me. but now, there's no study guide. all i got was one page with 5 sample questions and they told me to buy a book to study.

would definitely appreciate any input anyone has on the new pharm test (the med surge version). thanks!!

I was going to suggest to just read the study guide, but it seems like the test changed back in November. I took it on paper, but heard that they were going to a computerized test.

I remember just having to do basic calculations, ml/hr, dosage, and drip rates.

I do believe you get a second chance if you don't pass a portion of the test. Good luck!

does anyone still have their own study guides from the previous exam? i would love to get a list of medications to know for the med/surge pharm test.

even though the exam is now different i think that the old list would be helpful as well. thanks!!

Yeah, I would love to see the list too.

HI!!!!

I was Recently hired for the ED at Cornell and have to take the pharm exam also. I've been working in Med/Surg for 1.5 years and may be a little rusty on "test meds" as oppose to "real life" meds (like digoxin-- i think i've given it to like 2 patients my whole 1.5 yrs) ... no study guide given, just 5 practice questions and a 600 page book suggested to study from.....eeeeeech! Help!!

anybody want to compare answers to the NLN sample question sheet they gave us??

oh i'm stressing like no other.
