NY Nusing with Australian RN Qualification

Published

My Australian RN degree does not include Obstetrics/Midwifery or Pediatrics which are sometimes included as a requirement for Licensure in NY State. Can anyone tell me whether these are in fact necessary? or will I be able to take the NCLEX without them? I have 12 months experience working in a critical care hospital but am reluctant to spend the money getting Credential Verification etc if I am doomed to failure.

Any information, advice, suggestions much appreciated.

You will not be able to take the NCLEX without those courses. Go to the international forum you will find more information.

Plus, are you aware that the US is presently in retrogression meaning there are no Visas at this time.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Without the courses then you will not be able to sit the NCLEX. If you are planning on going to the US then you could apply for E3 as long as you are a Australian citizen otherwise you are looking at retrogression.

Specializes in CTICU.

You'll have to make up the hours if you don't have them. You didn't do any theory or practical in those areas?

There is some information about a way to do the modules via either Deakin in Melbourne or distance from a NZ uni:
