Ny methodist hospital

i was wondering if anyone got hired at ny methodist hospital. Or maybe anyone that currently works there? What is it like? It seems very nice from the outside perspective. It would be nice to know whats it like to work in a facility like nym.

I was hired as a registered nurse on Med-Surg working nights at Methodist Hospital right after graduating nursing school. It was a terrible experience and I began looking for a new job several months in and quit before one year. The orientation was brief - 3 weeks of classroom and then 4 weeks with several preceptors. The orientation felt unorganized and was short, particularly in comparison to other hospitals. After being thrown onto my unit (where I did not precept), I was so thankful the other nurses on the night shift when I worked were amazing. On the whole, however, the leadership/administration was awful. The mentality is "us against them" with them being the non-leadership nurses. I have years of non-nursing, professional work experience and I could not comprehend why they would create that kind of atmosphere. The nurse-patient ratio is high also - it would usually be 8 patients but 7 on occasion. If I needed help from a superior at night, one would come maybe half the time and it would take hours. I felt unsupported unsupported.

I second all this, and was shocked how badly we were treated by leadership, especially in situations where violent situations arose it was impossible to get leadership and security to the floor. I worked under protest of assignment for months before eventually leaving.

Are they understaffed or something? In most situations security and the safety of their staff/patients comes first. NYM seems like a tidy/organized hospital I am sorry you went through that...
