  1. Lifestyle is so different. Make sure you pick a hospital you want to settle at if it is for HHC. If you have more aspirations to do something else I say pick the private hospital and go for it further your education then settle into an HHC for the benefits.
  2. Depends on where you'll be living in NYC. The cost of living in Manhattan is much higher than say Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx. Mainly because of rent, though it is pretty high in parts of Brooklyn/Queens. Might be harder for you to find a job in a hospital because of ADN, most hospitals look for BSN. I'm single and living alone (renting) so what I make as an RN in a hospital is more than enough. I say it would be just enough to support a spouse and a child.
  3. Thanks for replying, it means a lot. Do you know what the GNAT consists of? Their website doesn't really have information on the test.
  4. I'm planning to apply for the upcoming year and was wondering how your application process went. Did you do an interview? What was your GPA and GNAT score? Thanks
  5. Hi. I'm planning to apply to the program for the upcoming year and I was curious why you think the application process was difficult. Did you end up accepting?
  6. Are they understaffed or something? In most situations security and the safety of their staff/patients comes first. NYM seems like a tidy/organized hospital I am sorry you went through that...
  7. Well you came very very close and that is what counts-- the odds of you getting a position in that hospital is very good.
  8. You should definitely call back to follow up. If they say you would be contacted by Nov 20th they would have contacted you either to say yes we want you or no unfortunately you did not get the position. Either way it will give you some closure.
  9. Deepa, Okay I'm glad you found a good place. Maybe I'll see you during the orientation. Best of luck!
  10. Hi Deepa, Hope my response isn't too late. I managed to find something in the end. I would suggest looking at the tourist rentals first, they are pretty decent month to month except they kick you out in the summer months and up the rate for tourists. You can maybe do that until you can find a more permanent apartment. When are you starting orientation?
  11. This has nothing to do with the interview. Just a question how quality of life is in cooperstown for those that live there already. And how did you find your apartment? I'm looking at the hospital listing and craigslist for rentals and there is like nothing.
  12. Hi, late reply but I was wondering if you had taken the exam yet. How was the exam? how much did it differ from the study guide that they give you? And did you get an interview? So many questions but I am in the process of studying for the test
  13. I took it a long time ago, can't remember (maybe 140?). But I remember it was on the 99 percentile. I can say the accelerated program is 150% harder to get into than the generic. My advice is to apply to the generic, you only save half a year if you go accelerated.
  14. If it makes anyone feel any better I got in with a 3.1 gpa
