  1. Hi everyone, how were you able to apply to the residency program? I heard that they don't usually list the position on their website. Did you call or email the nurse recruiter about the position? thanks in advance!
  2. Don't be sadden by your test results. You are not stupid. After all, you have gotten through nursing school. The test does get tricky sometimes. But don't fret! Be calm and read each question thoroughly. I encourage you to work with just Kaplan and do all the questions that the course provides. Technically, you don't really need to read the whole book. Go over some of the topics that you have trouble with and understand what is going on. For the NCLEX, it's not solely based on memorization skills, just basic conversions, and if you can break down the difficult medical terms, you'll be able to find the answer. The NCLEX really wants to test your ability to apply basic SAFE nursing care. Trust me, I've been in your shoes. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL taking the NCLEX. Believe in yourself that all of you can do it!
  3. I currently hold a BSN. How far are you in getting your BSN? I think you're in a better situation than I am because at least you worked in the GI office that is related to Nursing somehow. I don't have any healthcare background to cover me. Yeah, I am applying as much as I can and trying to network as well. Good luck with your BSN! :)
  4. Hi yall! I'm a "new grad" RN currently STILL looking for a job to start. I graduated last May and still have yet to work as an RN. I have been looking for months and I haven't gotten callbacks. I flunked my FIRST and ONLY interview last month and I was slightly depressed. lol I know I shouldn't let that get to me. I haven't given up. I still try to apply to all RN openings out there to which I qualify. It's just difficult because majority of the RN openings require you to have AT LEAST 1 year of acute care experience as an RN (which I lack). I don't know what to do anymore. I also apply to some RN openings in California (because I do want to move there one day). Can someone give me some insights as to what I should do? Where is a good place to work as a New Graduate RN? ANY INSIGHTS would be helpful. THANK YOU!!
  5. Hi RNCA2013! You can just Private message me! :) When did you do the interview?? Unfortunately I flunked the interview.. SIgh... fail me
  6. I see. Thank you for your response!
  7. Were you a new grad as well when you applied? Did you have any other nursing experience prior to applying? What hospital are you in now (if you don't mind answering, if not I'd understand)? Yeah I know a few of my classmates got jobs prior to graduation also because they did externships as well.
  8. Are you currently working in CA now? How long did it take you to find a job? Yeah I do understand that I'll have to compete with every new grads out there for a job.. sigh. It's just like that here where I am. I don't want to wait a whole year without having a job because that's just a real bummer .. What other good states do you recommend?
  9. Thanks for the reply! What are some hospitals around in the West Coast Area? I know I should just google it but I thought asking about it from someone's perspective would be helpful too.
  10. Hi everyone!! I've been applying to a lot of positions in Mt Sinai and I haven't gotten anything. What positions did you guys apply for? I'm a new grad with no healthcare background so maybe they wouldn't even consider me?
  11. Hi guys! I know I'm late to this but how did your interviews go with the NYM managers? I took the exam and had an interview last week and we might have seen each other! Lol
  12. Hi, I stumbled upon your post and I'm currently having a similar issue. I recently obtained a NYS RN license and I want to move to CA to work. It's really difficult to find a job here in NY especially as a new grad or an RN with no healthcare background (not that it will be easier in CA) but I really do want to consider CA. Are you currently in the process of endorsing your CA license? Do you know if hospitals will even consider you if you don't have a CA license yet? (I don't want to obtain a license in CA yet if I'm not being offered a position). What are some hospitals in the los angeles, CA area that will accept you even if you don't have any healthcare background?
  13. Hi Everyone!! I'm from NY and I plan on going to CA to pursue my career in Nursing. I stumbled upon RRUCLA New Grad Program and I am really interested in applying there. Does anyone have any insights about this program? I graduated in May 2012 so I'm considered a "new grad" with no current RN experience. I assume this program is highly competitve considering it being one of the top hospitals in CA. What is the hiring process like? If you get "selected" as an applicant, are there exams that you must take before obtaining an interview? When do Summer 2013 New Grad RN positions open up? What are some documents that I should get ready and what is the application process like? What basic general credentials should an applicant have to be considered for this position? Thank you in advance if anyone can answer these questions!!
  14. Thank you for your help!!
  15. Thank you for replying!! How long was the exam or how many questions were on it? Did you have an interview afterwards?
