Ny License By Endorsement!

Hi,

I'm a new grad and would like to know how to get NYC license(RN) by endorsement if i already hold a license from another state..thanks..

My husband wanted to move here so we could have some acreage - in SoCal getting anything other than a postage stamp lot can run millions unless you want to live really far from civilization. We also LIKE snow and weather- we were up in the socal mountains so we did get snow, but not enough. Plus we had a tiny little lot, no backyard, etc. So now we are buying 26 acres / house in wilton for what our house cost in Socal! He has family near here, so that's why we aren't in wyoming or some other cheaper state.

Of course, the taxes here suck. But california has some gotchya's also. I see the nursing salaries compared to California aren't too hot either but oh well. :)

Soooooooooo many posts on this site about the salary thing. But the cost of living is all relative. Keep that in mind.

Sounds like other than the endorsement issue, this is where you are meant to be. ;>)

Hello, I am in NC and have been reading your post. I am a new graduate with no experience. I start work tomorrow. Is it a requirement to have experience before you get a NY endorsement license. I am in lots of school loan debt and thought I may move to NY to live with my Dad to pay off bills. How much do new nurses make up there?

you need no experience to get your license endorsed to another state. Assuming you already are licensed to begin with? It's more a matter of having the credentials, not the experience. And it all depends on where in NY you choose to live that will determine your rate of pay. That is the part where experience will play a role. As a new grad, you will make entry level pay regardless of where you go. The pay will be higher or lower depending on your zip code because of the cost of living for that area.

As for obtaining your license for endorsement, if you choose to relocate to NY, your first priority is to check out the NY BON website to see which forms you will need to submit.

How long did it take from the time you sent your forms in. Just curious because I have been not so patiently waiting for 5 weeks.

You might want to give them a call to see if there is a hold up. There was a snag in mine and until I called and asked for a supervisor it was not going to be handled. I was given the run around. The day I ask for one he did not come to the phone but did call back 4 hours later with my license number.

please advise- i am licensed in new mexico and would like to acquire ny licensure by endorsement. i have read from this thread that i need to accomplish/execute form 3. my question: do i also need to accomplish/execute form 1? it says "for all applicants for licensure". or just form 3. i am applying for licensure by endorsement. sorry, bit confused. thanks very much.:redpinkhe

Hey Titao,

U have to fill out Form 1 regardless if u have a license in another state. Form 2 has to be fill out by ur nursing school for verification. Then you have to go to https://www.nursys.com/Common.asp?pt=LICENSEVERIFICATION ; which is a new online license verification. If ur state doesn't participate in Nursys then u have to fill out Form 3, but I check and New Mexico does participate. I hope this helps!:D
