NY Hospitals Hire RN-BSN Only?

Published

I'm currently in the last semester of my Associates of Nursing program. I'm DYING to get out of Florida and head to NY, but I've heard on more than one occasion that RN's are only hired out there with a Bachelor's Degree. I plan to immediately start the BSN, but I'd like to get right to work with the degree I have.

Anybody know if the rumor is true?

Hello,

I am in GA and where i work they stated in April that they were not hiring any more LPN's and they suggest we get an RN, preferably a BSN...........Last week our CNO (chief nurse officer) stated that 1) if you are and ADN and hold a management position she is suggesting that you go for you BSN or you won't have the position. 2) also states as of 2012/2013 there won't be ADN in hospitals only BSN....not sure how accurate this is or where she obtained her info.

My friend in NC has a coworker that just obtained her ADN, went to apply at hospitals to work and was told they want a BSN.

Hi there! I am also dying to get out of Florida and move to NYC! I know that this post was written about 2 years ago, have you made it to NY? If so, which hospital do you work in? I'm trying to do some research as to which hospitals are good work environments. Would like to hear your thoughts!

Many thanks,

Daniela
