NWFSC RN Fall 2016 Admission

U.S.A. Florida

Hi there! Anyone else applying for the Fall semester at NWFSC? I am about to take the first attempt for the hesi and I am little nervous! How are your scores looking so far?

Hi. I happened upon your post. I too am applying for the same term. I took the HESI for the first time a couple weeks ago. How do you feel about it?

I am also applying to the RN program this fall. I am super nervous, but excited to see if I got in! Decisions will be made sometime in April, correct? How do y'all feel like you did on the HESI?

I don't know! Lol. It's hard to tell. I mean, I got good scores on the HESI, but it's hard to gauge once you apply the scores to the admission point sheet. It's hard to have confidence without knowing what the average admission score historically is or what's considered good. That's how I'm feeling anyway. How about you?

Hey guys, I also applied for the upcoming program!

I'm getting incredibly anxious since up until this new point system, I felt okay about my scores since I had straight A's for my pre-reqs and my gpa was a 3.7... But now that it's pretty much entirely based on HESI scores, I have no idea where I stand and what scores are considered good/bad. I received an 87%, but knowing that the 54 people who will be accepted first will have much higher scores really freaks me out.

I know that according to the student assessment on the evolve website, the class average scores for the subjects ranged from low 60's to high 70's, but that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't people who scored much higher than that.

I was curious as to if anybody applied to other nursing programs?

I didn't apply to other programs. I need and really want to stay close to home, so I'm hinging it all on NW, which makes waiting more nerve-wracking.

On March 10th I got an email saying they're calculating the scores for all the applicants and they would post them for review, and that's the last I heard from them. It makes me think that there must have been tons of applicants. Which in turn makes me think that my pitiful score isn't going to get me in. I didn't know that they were doing the point system a different way this year, and I tried to find someone from last year to find out on what score they got in. No such luck.

I'm trying not to think about it all the time. I just wish they'd get the points posted already.

Well, you have to take into consideration that the school had a week break from the 21st through 27th. So, they haven't been calculating points for very long, if it makes you feel any better. I think we will receive an email by this week because they are supposed to make decisions by mid-April, and they give us two weeks after posting points to address any discrepancies.

Yeah, I know. They're running out of time! Lol. Did you figure up your own points when you did your application?

I I have finished all of the prerequisite classes and most of the co-requisite classes. If I get accepted I plan to take the last couple coreqs this summer. How about you?

My HESI scores were 90, 92,92,88,88. After calculating everything, I came up with 100/150: not terrible, but it could have been better. As far as classes are concerned, I graduated with my AA in December so if I am accepted into the program, I will only have to take the core nursing classes. How about you?

The first time I took the HESI my points added up to 103, so I retook it and managed to raise it by 12 points. I think that's a decent score, but that still feels like a long way from 150. And since it seems like there are a ton of applicants, it's even more worrisome. It has really sucked not having anyone to commiserate with about it. I'm glad you found this thread. Hurrying up and waiting has never been a strong suit of mine.

I'm in Crestview and I'm 33, btw. I've got my AA, too. I'll only have to take the core nursing courses if I finish up the coreqs this summer.

That is great! I don't think you will have any problems getting into the program. I also live in Crestview, so NWFSC is really my only option for an RN program. I am not willing to drive to Pensacola and back everyday on top of the stress that is nursing school. I'm sure you understand. I wish you all of the best! =)

I meant to ask earlier, but I forgot: which classes do you have left to take?
