  1. It's going to be ok. They can't fault you for what you don't know yet. Just come Monday prepared to absorb all you can. Which city do you live in? Some of our classmates made lists by city so we could form study groups. We'll get you in a group and you'll get caught up. What did she tell you to work on? Castle branch? Do you have your books yet? You can email me on our school account at arangoa, and if you have your books I'll send you the info on the stuff you need to read up on before class on Monday. In the meantime, you just breathe and be happy you made it. I'm working on that myself. Lol.
  2. I am so proud for you, girl. Really, congratulations. I'm literally trying to wade my way through all the stuff that we have to get done right now. I'm taking a minute away from that to post this, and then it's right back into the muck. My desk looks like a tornado hit it. I can certainly guarantee that getting organized straight out of the gate is a must. Take the extra time to organize the crap out of everything!! That's what I'm trying to do, because it seems like it will be so easy to miss something important otherwise. Most of what happened Friday is the same as what happened in orientation, except this time we wore our clinical uniform. Unfortunately, you didn't get to go to orientation either, and that sucks. Can you get on D2L and see your classes yet? If so, start there and look over your syllabi for the two main classes, at least. There is a sheet in the content section of the nursing process (theory) course, under the "orientation" subsection, called "orientation handout fall 2016 theory" --- when you open that tab the sheet starts out "NUR 1021C: Nursing Process One, Fall 2016" as the header and it has a small stethoscope graphic about midway down on the left ... that's a good sheet to get you started to be prepared for Monday's theory class. It has the information you need to register for your resources on Evolve, to register for your ANA account, and the things you need to read and look at in preparation for the theory class that afternoon. When you go to the school on Monday, you should go early and go to the IT Dept. They recommended Friday that you take your primary device that you will be using, whether it is your cell phone, a tablet, or a laptop or whatever ... take it to the IT Help Desk, which is located in Bldg. 430, and tell them you are a nursing student and that you want to add your device to the network, and they will do that for you. They highly recommended that, and said that it would help a lot, because otherwise, depending on the wifi tends to be much slower and bogged down. One of the instructors asked that we bring thermometers to class on Monday so that we could practice taking temperatures. She also said that you need to specifically print pages 10 through 13 of your theory syllabus and bring with you, in addition you need to read over that syllabus before Monday's class. You need to read over the "Theory Planning Guide (TPG) for that class, and I think she said to print that one, but I can't remember for sure about that part. I think my notes say to "skim" the TPG, but I scribbled that part, so I can't say with 100 percent certainty. Your Brown Bag Assignment involves an actual brown paper bag. Since they didn't give you one, you can try to get one from a store like Publix or something. Basically, it's an introduction, "getting to know you" kind of assignment. You're suppose to cut out magazine pictures, print pictures, use actual photographs and cover the front and back of the paper bag with things about yourself. Then you can put a picture or pictures inside your paper bag of something people don't know about you that you'd like to share. Completing that assignment is our "ticket to class", as they put it. But there is still plenty else to do to be prepared for class on Monday. They also said to bring the bag with you to both your clinical class and the theory class. Let's see ... they went over some general stuff about grading and skills and assessments, etc., but most all of it is in the plethora of documents they have posted in D2L. I think you should just start reading and write down any questions you may come across. ASK US ANY QUESTIONS YOU WANT TO. And if any of you guys see something I missed or got wrong on here, correct me please!! Take care and good luck, all of you!! Soph
  3. Yes!!! Congratulations!! I heard them say they were calling people from the list today, too, and I thought of you! I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to meet you. You have a TON of stuff to get done. Speak up on here if you need some help.
  4. I'm gonna be there! Idk how entertaining I'll be, but I will be present. Lol. If anyone else wants to come, you guys are more than welcome. I looking forward to meeting you guys. That includes got, kr96.
  5. ahefner --- that sounds good to me, except could we maybe do Starbucks instead? I don't stay up much later than that most nights, and I may need the caffeine. As long as I get a sitter, I'll be there, either place. If you can private message me on here, I'll give you me cell to text me. Kr96 --- idk, hon. Maybe there was some mix up, or maybe there was a tie for one of the places. I'm hate that finding out just led to more questions. My fingers are still crossed for you.
  6. One is a math sheet. Simple stuff, mostly conversions. The other is a med term sheet.
  7. Anyone still want to meet up early this week to work on those sheets we have to do?
  8. Try calling up there and ask for an update. It couldn't hurt. I know that they are very busy and have a lot going on. Something like notifying an alternate could be overlooked. And finding out a definite about what's going on this close could set your mind at ease. Wondering can be worse than knowing.
  9. That's what I remember, too. 0700, in uniform, with all our supplies and such, plus those first assignments complete. Youre more than welcome to participate in this pre-class meet up and work on our assignments with us when we get it worked out. You guys can feel free to email me on our school email - arangoa. That way we can arrange something around here in the next week or so.
  10. Sure! I don't remember if you mentioned where you live in past posts. I live in Crestview. Where are you?
  11. A lady in one of my classes this summer was number 2 on the list and she got an invite, so you're closer than you think! I hope you make it.
  12. I was wondering about the FB page, too. But I don't want to be responsible for it. I want my books so I can start studying, but I can't get mine until the 1st. I guess it's just as well, because I still have classes to finish for this summer. I'm with you though; I am so ready to get this show on the road already.
  13. Hey guys. I finally got everything done, too. CB was a bit of a pain. First they took so long reviewing my physical that they rejected it and said it was because the files didn't save when I uploaded them. They finally got it taken care of, but I was getting worried. Then they started popping up new things to do once I thought I was all done, like the TB questionnaire. I contacted their so-called 24/7 help desk about why I needed that, and they didn't respond for 6 or 7 days. I ended up contacting Mrs. McNair about it and she took care of it before they ever responded, and when they finally did, they're response said absolutely nothing. It was a mess. Anyway ... I'm glad we got our schedules, also. My clinical days are M/T, so my off day is Thursdays. I paid my tuition yesterday, so it is now completely official! lol. I need to get my books and supplies still. I will probably buy the supplies this week or next week, and I am waiting for a small scholarship I got to come through so that I can get my books. I hope that I can get them a little before school starts so that I can start looking them over. So how do you guys feel about everything? I'm pretty nervous. I'm ready to get started already. I am taking Microbiology this summer and almost everyone in the class is a nursing student. They constantly talk about how difficult it is. I'm trying not to let it worry me. I hope everything is going well for you guys.
  14. Best of luck to you!
  15. I took it at the school through the ems Dept. It was $50. One of the ladies in my orientation group mentioned they do it for $35 at FWBMC.
