About 5 years ago it was about 18 for new grad pay for vandy with no experience. Hope it's more now!!! Good luck !
Mostly happy RN
I sure hope it is more! I make more than that as a LPN! Can't pay off these student loans with only a dollar/hour raise!!

Have you considered Chattanooga? We are the 4th- largest city in TN with 3 large hospital systems. I suggest checking out the Parkridge Hospital System in Chattanooga. They have a reputation for high nurse satisfaction and retention. The cost of living is low here, and it is a gorgeous city! Good luck!
Thank you, Fawnmarie, for the suggestion. I live smack-dab in the middle between Nashville and Memphis so I am willing to commute to either for the right about of money. I'm driving pretty far for LPN pay right now so it won't be that much of a change. I really am not ready to move right now. But I have visited Chattanooga multiple times and do love that city!

Vanderbilt won't hire new grads unless they are accepted into the nurse residency program. I believe the starting pay for the nurse residents is almost $21 per hour.

St Thomas has new nurse programs that start every few months, I think the next one isn't until July or so. But starting pay new grad at St Thomas is 20.80, night differential 3.75, evening differential 3.75, weekend differential 2. This was from their new grad program information/interview session I attended for the April program (I turned down their offer, they require a 2 year contract).
