Hi,
I started this thread for those that want to chat, brainstorm and encourage each other through the application cycle.

It didnt take that long. Last cycle I applied march 20(last day). I got my rejection email April 9th. I believe that was 3 weeks and 2 days. It just seems like eternity when youre waiting.

While I was working at the hospital this past Spring/Summer, a few other techs were waiting for their acceptance notification all the way up until about May 20th. Their orientation had to be pushed back because of how long it was taking.
I think you’re right that it was probably due to the new online process, on top of the almost 400 applicants! Yikes! Lol

He expected student services to be done this Friday or early next week with reviewing applications for eligibility. From prior years the ranking process happens pretty quickly after that.
Last cycle, I received an email when my application was marked ineligible, an email a month later stating program was full... And just as I was done licking my wounds, I also received a physical letter in the mail. ??
They are definitely moving through the process quicker this time around. I still have print outs from back when applications still had to be mailed in... I can only imagine how long and painful that waiting period was like.
For those reapplying, are Castle Branch results still valid or do we have to get them done again?

From what I recall, it was 380 last cycle - which doesn't seem significantly more than this cycle's 280. I'm assuming they were able to smooth out some kinks from the switch last Fall.

I think we would need a New Castle Branch. I’m not paying for one until I get an acceptance letter. I wasted money the last two times I applied. So I want to be sure this time that they will use it. I asked a guy in the dept back in March and he told me we needed a new one with each cycle.
Hello All,
A student brought this page to our attention. We wanted to answer any questions you might have so that any myths can be dispelled outright. The applymec team is working on the last batches of applicants right now.
If you have any issues with your application it will be noted in their email to you. You will need to respond to the email they send you if you feel there was some error. Calling the office/coming in person is not the fastest route to resolution.
We recommend checking your student emails frequently and respond with any questions you may have.
Sincerly,
MEC Counselor

- How many will Nursing Accept for Spring 2020?
- In their denial letter to students for fall 2019, the nursing division indicated they would be taking 100 students for spring 2020
- How many applied for spring 2020?
- Around 280
- You were missing an admissions requirement, TEAS, course etc will they grant an exception?
- No, in fairness to those that worked hard to meet all requirements exceptions are not granted.
- Requirements are listed in several places, the medical/apply page, nursing home, and information session.
- Will you need a new castle branch if accepted
- Yes, the nursing department will require that you get a new one.
- However, do not pay for it until you have been accepted.
- Why it took so long
- Due to limited staff and the sheer number of applicants for fall 2019 and the implementation of new online system applications took longer than anticipated.
- When will you find out;
- That you met requirements to apply
- You should hear by end of business Friday
- If you forgot to attach something do it now by logging into your application via the link in your confirmation email. Click the "view request" button and log back in.
- That you were accepted into the program
- earliest we expect that to go out is two weeks from Monday ( week of Oct 21 at the earliest)
- You might be contacted by student services before then to verify information such as residency (in-state/out of state)
- Being contacted does not mean you will be selected, however not being contacted doesn't mean you won't be selected.
- If accepted what happens next?
- You will be given specific instructions from nursing with several items to complete.
- background check, immunization, drug screen etc
- you will be required to attend a nursing orientation some time early in December
- You will participate in a campus orientation

That would be amazing and way sooner than I ever thought! Hopefully they’re also ranking us all as they go through each application initially and have most of their data by the end of this week.
