Hi there,
I haven't seen a thread for this yet and there has been one for just about every semester at MEC, so I decided to make one.
I'm currently studying for the TEAS and I've printed out the Fall 2018 application to work on but there are some very confusing elements (and possibly typos?) on it so I plan on asking on Monday. Since they changed nearly everything from previous years I feel like they made some mistakes (possibly).
Is anyone else a little confused? For instance, they tell you not to get a background check until notified to do so, but the complete checklist on the application they give you instructs you to initial that you've completed the background check.
Does anyone else have any questions about it?
Not sure if I'm in the right thread but worth a shot lol.
Im currently taking prereqs, in PSY230 right now for the summer, anyway lol I was wondering how the application process works?
I read somewhere that they aren't considering work experience? are you allowed to submit recommendation letters?
Any chance that someone who went to an orientation could post what their first schedule looks like? I'm applying for next fall and need to start thinking about child care options. Thanks so much!
Go to SIS.. Class schedules are up. They are likely to be close to same next time around. Click on clinicals to see various places and see which is closest to you.
So they kind of made it hard to deal with that and at this point we aren't allowed to officially register yet but we can register for the first two classes this week and then in a week or two they open up the other two. One nursing class is online and I also found a microbiology class online through the Annandale campus. That leaves 3 nursing classes that each have a lab or clinical component. Clinicals are an all day thing at a facility so there's not really a way to take classes that day. I managed to stack the other two classes so I go to Springfield on Tuesdays and Fridays and clinicals on Wednesday. So that's three days a week you need childcare but keep in mind I feel like everyone is going to want this schedule and space is limited so I might end up having to do school stuff four days a week because I can't get into the time slots I picked out. Also NSG 100 lecture was only offered Fridays which I was a bit disappointed about. Thy And there are no weekend/evening options which they said they were trying to look into but at this point in time there are none
Thanks @phospholipidbilayer ! I took a look at SIS and I thought similarly to you that it would be great to be able to stack into the three days. Even four days a week wouldn't be too bad, I'm just really trying to keep child care costs as low as possible. I'm planning on taking the co-requisites this winter and spring before applying to the program. I'm hoping that will make it a little easier to manage the schedule once I'm actually in the program.
Major tip for when you register for classes! When they set a date for when class are open for registration already be on SIS and have everything READY by that time. Registration opened this year at 10am the first day and i signed up for classes 30 seconds after 10am and got my classes. On the second day when the other two classes were opened I did the same thing and one of the classes ended up being full 30 seconds after it being open! Luckily I had a backup plan but when I went to Springfield campus right after signing up for my classes people were calling the counselors by they did not have a plan b and were in a jam.
After being told that one of our lectures would be online, and then that two would be online, we are ending up with zero lectures online. Prepare to spend the first semester either on campus or at a clinical 4-5 days a week. One day, that may mean being on campus for a 50 minute lecture. Another day, you may be there for 6 hours. It really makes it difficult if you have any work or family obligations outside of school.
