Has the ranking process changed in consideration of those who have already taken the TEAS and those who did not due to the COVID-19 impact? I am wondering if people who have taken the TEAS will be ranked higher. TIA

I was told that they are not considering the TEAS. It can’t help you or hurt you. Their reasoning is because the testing center shut down two weeks before the original nursing deadline so it’s not fair.

I’m trying to do it because of my GI Bill. I need to be a full time student and I’ve already completed all my co-requisites. I appreciate the advice though! I guess I’ll play it by ear. Thank you!

That's the reason I figured, to get full BAH. The BSN classes are easier than the RN classes according to my friend who is doing it for GMU for the same reason.

Thank you, that's helpful to know. I wonder how many people actually applied vs how many they will accept. There might be an influx of applicants since they waived that requirement.

I was told that they accept 100 nursing students a semester.

I am also very curious how many people applied now that the TEAS has been waived. I am hoping that they post further information soon to help clear up all our questions.

Hi,

So I’ve been in touch with a JMU counselor for their RN-BSN co-enrollment program. I have to show my acceptance letter by May 20th. Otherwise, I will not be able eligible for the program. Do you believe we’ll know by then?

We would lean towards no. Letters haven't normally gone out before the last week of May. However, If all goes well it could be before that. Most Co-enrollment programs allow you to start your second semester as well.

Last year I got my acceptance letter 5/15, but our application window was not extended and it wasn’t mid-pandemic. I would strongly suggest not starting Co-enrollment until the Spring semester unless you absolutely have to. First semester is so busy and so hard! Lots of moving parts, lots of information to process and hands on time. Second semester is much more chill, and this fall is still going to be up in the air how they proceed. They told us they have several contingency plans in case we get further waves of shut down.

agreed

Make sure to speak to your military advisor to see if you are able to count credits from two schools as full-time at one. www.nvcc.edu/military

The TEAS has removed from the ranking structure. Please review the nursing brochure on https://www.nvcc.edu/academics/divisions/nursing/index.html for the rest of the criteria.

There has been a significant increase in applicants for all programs offered at the MEC.

Thank you for the information. When will we know the exact numbers for the nursing program?

Thank you for the information. Can I ask how many applications the school normally averages for the nursing program each application cycle? And any idea when we might get the details of how many applied this application period?

They usually don't tell us how many applications. In the past, it's only when different people spoke to different staff in student services that someone let it slip and we found out. It's varied tremendously from year to year since they've changed the requirements a lot over the last few years.

Hi, do you mind telling me the number of applicants accepted the year you applied? Just curious. I'm kind of upset they waived the TEAS just because my GPA is not bad but the TEAS would have helped a lot in my ranking. This is my third time applying. I am so scared and nervous.

My cohort was 120 accepted and there were around 350 applications. But we don’t know how many moved past the initial screen to stage 2. The cohorts going forward should be around 100 since they’re taking 2 cohorts a year as of now. I’m finishing my second semester
