I am starting a new thread to track cases from NVC - embassy to GC.
The best news for RN in China, Phillippines and India has been great and informative thread, but I think it is more appropriate and convenient if we start a new thread.
Also with the rapid scheduling of interviews for most of us, I am looking beyond the CP and anticipating the GC!
The August interview schedules are out already in India, and recently in the Philippines and hopefully in China.
Here is my case details

Well, you know the feeling of being like in limbo. You were given a lot of assurances that everything is fine then when I finish all my exams this is the time that I would get to know more about this retrogression issue. Well, as you say patience its really a virtue, any ZEN teachers here.
There have been retrogressions in the past, and the US will continue to have them in the future. A retrogression occurs when the number of applicants exceeds the number of visas that are available. And there are more from the Philippines that want to come to the US than there are visas for nurses from there. Do not ever expect it to catch up to all. The US does not have an open door policy for immigration though there are many that would like to think that they do or are required to do so.
Agencies are making promises in PI that are just not true. And they cannot guarantee you anything. They cannot guarantee you that US Embassy will grant a visa to you, even if you meet the requirements. They cannot guarantee that your spouse and family will be able to travel with you, that again is up to the US government.
American nurses get priority to any job, just as it should be. There are areas in the US where there are very few jobs opening even for those that lived in that area all of their lives. The US is not going to be bring in more foreign nurses if it is going to take jobs from Americans. Yes, you will see jobs in nursing homes, or locations that are not safe and Americans do not wish to go there. But do not expect to go to a city that everyone wishes to work in, just is not going to happen. And then you add in that there are foreign nurses from other countries with more experience and better training. Add that in all together and there are not enough jobs or visas here for everyone that wishes to come. This is the point that I am trying to get across.
And when someone went into nursing just to get a fast green card to the US, and gets no clinical experience in their training--actual experience of placing NG tubes, foley catheters, etc., and expect to be able to work over here just like everyone else. Not so. And facilities do not want them.
Things are not the same in the US now for those that have just completed training as it was in the past when the better training was in existance.
And who was it that gave the assurances? An agency in PI? Sorry, but they usually give very bad advice to begin with. They are interested in selling you to the highest bidder, nothing more.
i got a reply from the nvc after 3 days of waiting. the reply is quite frustrating. i called up the nvc (october 2006), they told me that my packet 3 has been approved. according to their reply to my latest email, my employer has to provide the affidavit of support and they are waiting also for my ds-230. how come? i emailed my lawyer regarding this matter, i am waiting for my lawyer's reply....
here's the reply that i received from nvc....

hi!!! just wondering when is your pd?...
I was informed that the INS is starting to give out visas which were filed year 2005.Is this true?
We do not have INS, we have USCIS. INS only comes into play once you are in the US, they do not operate out of the US, and they are not the ones that have anything to do with issuing a visa, only upholding the law with US Immigration Services.
Please get your information from the US State Dept. Anyone that has been waiting since 2005, that means that there were issues with their agency/and or attorney. Should have been in the US last year.

it is the responsibility of the attorney to file the required documents, and many times we have seen things left out. did you ever see on your account that the ds-230 was accepted, or just going by what you were told on the phone? if your account was never updated, then.............
and i am sure that you did not get the person's name and their direct phone number so that this could be vertified.
what they e-mail states may not be up to date, we have seen rogue e-mails sent out. but suggest that you get in touch with your attorney.
THIS link is working again.....
