i am taking fon 241 at mcc online for the first summer session. i have taken all of my online classes through rio, but decided to try a different college this time. has anyone taken this course online through mcc? if so, were there a lot of essays, like with rio, or is it a different format? just kind of want to get a feel for what it will be like.
thanks!

I took the same class online through Glendale Community College, not too much busy work at all. :)
Thanks for the info. I had signed up for the Rio class and was stunned by how much work there was, 3-5 assignments a week!!! I am not looking for the easy way out, but that was a little ridiculous. I want to learn something and not get bogged down in busy work. So, hopefully this will be a better option.
Thanks again!
Yeah I think we had 1 assignment a week and then a mid-term and final on campus that was it. Good luck! :)

Hi:
I am to take this class at RIO in 2 weeks. Have you seen the two assignment schedules for RIO and MCC? Is there a dramatic diffference?
I have taken many RIO courses and they are usually packed with homework and essays. And I work, with two small children, thus I would prefer the MCC class if it is less homework.
Thank you

Yes, I saw the class schedule for RIO and it was absolutely ridiculous. That is why I dropped it and went with MCC. I haven't seen that sched yet, but am thinking less busy work than RIO. Again, I am not looking for an "easy" class, I expect to work and learn, however, there is a point where you just have to wonder "What the heck!" Seriously, it looked like more work than the anatomy courses, and those were intensive. I don't need the class for my degree, just wanted to take it because it is something I am interested in and it would be helpful for my degree. I would say drop RIO and go with one of the other colleges.
Thank you for the insight. I agree, the anatomy courses at RIO were pretty intensive and like you, I also am not looking for the "easy way out," but I don't want to get bogged down by essay after essay after essay.
Plus, I work, have two daughters and am currently taking a math class, which keeps me very busy. But I want to take FON 241 for the same reasons as you do and am looking to learn, but not be drowned by senseless work.

The second I saw it online at MCC I signed up. I'm going for ASU's program but need to take 2 classes over the summer to be able to apply for admission next Spring. See you online!
