So my first semester of nursing school is coming to an end and it was pretty tough. For the people who have surpassed that does it get any easier or is the first semester as easy as it going to get?

It gets a lot harder, but you get used to the chaos which makes it easier.

I'm super nervous about going into the second semester so I'm glad to hear it's not going to be as bad as I'm making it out to be, thanks for sharing!

I think it waxes and wanes, depending on what your strengths and interests are.

In school, I excelled at peds and mother/baby, partly because I was the mother of three kiddos, ages 5/3/1 year. But psych, not so much.

But its good to reflect on where you struggle, and what changes you can make to improve. Do you need to scale back out of school obligations? Do you need a structured study schedule? Do you have a study buddy or group?

In grad school, I had a calendar that listed every class time and assignment and test. I barely saw my family for a year and a half, I cut my work schedule and bought more underwear and socks (for some reason this was a huge stressor!).

Seriously this is a stressor for me too. I can wear dirty pants and shirts, but no way will I even attempt to wear dirty undies. I need "daytime" and "nighttime" panties and socks are currently optional because I'm a flip flop girl - but if I have to wear socks, they need to match and be clean.... I totally get this!

I just finished my second semester of ADN nursing school and found it to be a lot easier than fundamentals! Maybe I started to get the hang of tests where every answer is right, or maybe as nursej22 said it was a better fit with my interests to do maternity and psych. I'm not completely sure, but enjoyed it much more, and was way less nervous. It helped that I already knew my teachers and cohort as well. It was still a lot of material, but knowing what to expect made a big difference.
