How did you cover your medical insurace requirement?

I think I have almost everything down that I need for the fall except for medical insurance.

I could get the schools medical insurance, but its like $800/semester through financial aid. This option seems a bit steep and the company is not one of those A++ rated companies. So since mom and dad are not an option anymore I was wondering if anyone found some good alternatives for this?

Thanks

I decided not to go with health insurance with the school and use blue cross blue shield instead.

I also have private health and dental insurance, it's comprehensive with no deductible and costs me around $150/mo.....I don't really go to the dr's a lot for office visits, the 0-deductible is mainly in case of something emergent....Some might choose for a higher deductible plan for lower premium, that's up to you

I wasn't required to carry medical insurance for nursing school. When I quite my full time job to go to nursing school I lost my insurance.

Why don't you get health insurance for 1 month, show the school proof of it, and then immediaely cancel it? Is that an option for you?

its not the school that is requiring it but the hospitals in the area, along with the 10-pt drug screen, and FBI background check. I want something just in case of the "worst case senerio" like the guy who went in to the hospital a few months ago where I'm doing my clinical and started shooting....ya know...just in case
