I am hearing that there are shortages in some areas while some are cutting back jobs.
Can anyone tell me for sure where thet know there are nursing shortages in the U.S or Canada.
Thanks
the hospital I am at in Michigan is downsizing so much--They are losing people. The nurses have had it and are quitting. Luckily, there are quite a few jobs (with weekends and Holidays tho) in the metro Detroit area. So is there a real nursing shortage? Or is there a mismanagement problem within our hospitals?
There's no nursing shortage in Kentucky.
Kentucky is one of the sh*tt**** places to work as a nurse.
It's an "at-will" state.
You should have read what the KY BON just put in their newsletter about the California nurses unionizing........*shudder*
KY is where the Louisville nurse who was trying to UNIONIZE (uh - oh bad word) other nurses was suspended by the KY BON for giving a NS IV flush "without a doctor's order.
I loathe the state of Kentucky, for that and many other reasons!
WOW. I hope I never get sick in Kentucky! This is why I'll never work in a non-union shop.

Not much of a shortage in northern colorado. It seems like we are a pretty popular place to relocate to, as I know of many RN's who have moved here from out of state. Fairly decent wages and a reasonable housing costs.
My theory is that the more expensive places to live are where the 'shortages' are.
