Could someone please give me some names of good nursing shoes that I can use for clinicals. They must be very comfortable b/c in the Spring we will have to do 12hr shifts. We are not allowed to wear clogs or sneakers, so I'm not sure what I should be looking for.
I also have to buy a decent stethascope and have no clue what qualities I should be looking for when purchasing one. Could you all please send some names my way. Thanks alot!

Shoes- Spring Steps! WONDERFUL shoes. I also have a pair of Quarks (SP?) that I like too. But I think I like the Spring Steps a little better.

I haven't tried the Dansko's, but everyone seems to love them. I've been wearing the Easy Spirit nurse shoes, and I really like them! I've been putting in 12 hour days, and wearing a pedometer I generally get 8000-9000 steps a day. My feet aren't really that sore after the day is over.

I love my Danskos! Pretty expensive, but worth every penny!

I work 12 hour shifts as a Nurse Apprentice and am in the middle of my final 12 hour clinical days for nursing school. My Danskos have done me well. I love them. Comfortable, supportive, and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day.
I love my Littman Classic SE II (I think that's it). I do plan on buying the next one up after graduation and using the one I have now as a back up.
You can find both of the above items on Ebay in addition to many online sources. I bought my Danskos on Ebay for $65 plus $7 s/h. A great deal for a great pair of shoes!!

I just purchased Dansko Professionals and they feel wonderful, I can't wait to put them to work, I have heard that these are the best. I have also purchased a Littman II S.E., because of research I did on this website, this was the one most recommended.

I can't imagine that they won't allow you to wear sneakers! Maybe they mean that they want an all white look, not like some of the bright tennis shoes? I wear Skechers slip ons. (Just found out my nurse manager has the same pair!) I love them, and would not trade my Skechers for anything...
