Are pricier bp cuffs actually any better than the cheap ones? Any suggestions for what to look for?

hi, i am a senior nursing student and have never used my own b/p cuff. the hospitals always had them and some hospitals even had them in the pt room. if you still need one (if your a hh nurse) then i'm not really sure which cuffs are better........hope this helps:wink2:

I have one that my grandma bought me so I could practice when learning vitals, it was an AMG cuff. But I don't know if they sell those in the us.:uhoh3:

if you are only using it to practice i'm sure its fine. my first year of school i bought a stethoscope/b/p set and it was pretty cheap and it works great. however, if you were using it everyday and needed it for practice i would invest in good equitment. also if you are unsure ask around, your nursing faculty and workers at a nursing supply/uniform store are great places to start. hope it helps, let me know if i can help you more.

Thanks. It is just for school because I know that most hospitals/offices have their own. I'm going to watch for a cheap one on eBay. I have an Adscope Light stethoscope and hopefully it will be good enough for me for now.

Do you like your Adscope?

Have you taken a BP yet with it?

Good luck!

I prefer to have one without the stethoscope attached. Otherwise, it is bullky, plus I love my steth and want to use it instead of the cheapie that comes attached with some of the cuffs.

I have one that I bought off of ebay to practice with. I only used it a few times and it was really helpful. I no longer need it though because I finally learned how to take blood pressures so I don't need the practice. If you're interested... I'd be willing to sell you mind. Just let me know.. PM me

The adscope stethoscope seems to be ok. I used it for my CNA training and was able to do pretty good on bp's. I know it's just a matter of listening close no matter what steth you have.
