  1. Hello, I am a med/surg nurse x 2 years. I recently applied for a Radiology nursing position. I was wondering what a day in Radiology would look like and why you love Radiology. Also, what questions should I ask and what else do I need to be prepared? Thank you!
  2. I am a current medical/surgical nurse of about 1 year and 2 months with my BSN. A nurse recruiting job is posted at my current job and I want to apply. What steps do I take to become a nurse recruiter or can I just apply? Thank you!!!
  3. I am a current medical surgical nurse of about 1 year and 2 months. I have my BSN. My question is r/t a job posting which I feel is right up my alley, a nurse recruiter. I know I don't have experience but I feel I would really like this job. Should I apply? Any advice?

  5. I'm an RN with about 1 yr and 2 months of Medical Surgical experience. My question is at my current hospital they have a posting for a nurse recruiter. I feel like this is right up my alley. The requirements are BSN, which I have and experience preferred, which I don't have. Should I apply or is it out of the question. The job has been posted for almost a month and I keep looking at it. THANK YOU all!
  6. HI, I took the NCLEX in June and the only way I found to remember lab values and therapeutic drug levels was to use note cards and do them over and over again. The NCLEX will not ask you in great detail about the correct dose for an infant, child, male or female, just learn the major therapeutic levels of medications and your important labs (e.g H/H, BUN, Creat and so on). Hope this helps!
  7. YES!!!!! But I felt it prepared me the most for the boards.......good luck and stay with it:D
  8. :balloons:Congrats!!! Go celebrate
  9. I will begin next week on a med surg floor as a new grad RN. I was wondering if anyone had ideas for how they keep track of their shift notes.......for example do you use a sheet of paper for each pt and what does it say(name, rm, med, allergies and so on) or what are the important things to keep track of? Thanks again!!!!
  10. I used Saunders and http://www.learningext.com! I did about 200 questions dailly about 3 weeks before the test..............good luck!
  11. The NCLEX is computer based and can take up to 6 hours to take the test. One can end up with any amount of questions from 75-265 depending on how they answer.........ex. if you get a question wrong, the next question is easier and if you get it right the next question is harder. The computer will shut off when you have either proven to be a safe nurse or proven that you got too much wrong to be a safe nurse..........I would reccommend using the forum for nurses outside the United States.........let me know if I can do anything else (aslo I would just google NCLEX so get more information)!
  12. Use ABC's, and Maslows to determine...........and if you still have trouble go with the patient that is the most critical and cannot wait!!!
  13. I had a lot of this information on the NCLEX, I would make sure you have a good understanding of dropplet, airborn, contact and standard precaustions........after this then look up common diagnosis and what precaustions need to be taken (TB-is airborn and one needs a special mask to enter room, private room, and neg pressure room)...........Let me know if I can help any more
  14. Medications are a down fall of mine too. Before taking the NCLEX I mad sure to know common things...........Ace inhibitors usually are the -pril drugs, beta blockers are your -olol. Know certain food interactions (ex. what not to have with MAOI), how long do I have to be off of a MAOI before starting a TCA? Things like this..........also drug levels, some common ones are dig, dilantin, lithium........and so on, let me know if I can help you anymore.........Good luck!
  15. So how did you do?
