i live in tampa and i am looking for the best school to go to... anyone recommened any good schools..... plez let me know im lost.....thanks:nurse:

Are you already an LPN looking for a bridge program? If so, I would recommend the link I have below. It incorporates all of your pre-requisites so you don't have to spend months or years taking them at a community college.

The Center for Allied Health & Nursing Education

tel: (813) 246-5111

fax: (813) 246- 5125

They may also have an LPN program as well. Cost may be a factor...it's not cheap.

If you google LPN schools Tampa you should get a listing of what's available here.

Good luck...

There are quite a few threads here on Tampa Bay nursing schools. Did you do a search?

Some to think about:

For ADN you can go to HCC in Tampa or SPC in Pinellas, both are public.

Erwin Tech and PTEC for LPN are both public.

USF for BSN, its public.

Private schools: Galen has a good reputation, don't know about the rest.

Specializes in ICU.

USF-very tough to get in or SPC. For heavens sake if you want to do HCC beware they are the most unorganized college in America.

I have never heard of this school. Is it a good program? Also, they offer an AAS vs ASN RN degree ... silly question, but what is the difference between AAS and ASN degree? I can't seem to find an answer to this question. I'm sure it's out there, but I'll rely on my fellow nurses to fill me in. Thanks in advance.

I went to Galen for my LPN. It's a really good school, but it's private so it's expensive. Has a good reputation though and you will learn a lot. They have an LPN-RN bridge program as well. They start 4 times a year and it's pretty easy to get into.

It really depends on what you're looking for.

For an LPN I know of Galen and Keiser. Galen though sets you up for an RN.

If you want to be an RN the public school HCC (Tampa) and SPC (Pinellas) will get you there. SPC is competitive and can be tough to get into, but it's a good program. Also, HCC and SPC set you up if you want to do an RN-to-BSN program at a university and further your degree.

If you don't want to wait, I've heard great things about Galen. You get your RN in two years. The only downsides are it's expensive and also, you aren't eligible for any public universities RN-to-BSN programs.

You would have to go to a private college and that will also be expensive.

If you just want to go and get you BSN you can go to USF for their program.

I just finished that school and passed my exit. Dont go there it was not a good experience at all. People cant pass the exit and many people got thrown out for failing classes. They dont care about people only your money. What they dont tell you is that they now have people who graduated in nov 09 and only half of the class passed the exit as wll as dec 09 and now march 10 class.Thats like 140 people for 3 classes and maybe 50 people passed. No exit no diploma!!!! I would not even recomend that school to my worst enemy. I did graduate but it cost me deerly and i dont mean money. They killed my will to go back to school!!!!!

Which school was not good? Galen or the Brandon one?

Oh sorry I finished the center for allied health and education.
