Nursing school and social life?

I was wondering about anyone out there that was doing nursing school with no kids. The reason is is that it is still hard not having kids going through school because I bet your use to having a social life and out partying some times (some not all people). When you have children though for me its like I dont really have a social life because my kids are my life and I never have a babysitter to go out and have fun. But when I was in school and didnt have kids I remember sometimes it was hard balancing a social life and school. Sometimes you want to just go out the night you should be studying hard. I was just wondering on that topic. Thanks

Thank you!

I am in my first semester of nursing school. I waited 3.5 years before my number came up, my school was waitlist only, now the wait is like 1.5-2 years but they are planning on going more competitive.

Hi Mi Vida loka

I'm thingking that when I start my program, I won't have any time to go to this site, however, I like it a lot and even got addicted to it. If you have time to be on this site then maybe it's not that..... bad on the first semester? 3.5 years to get into the program? Wow, congratulation that you made it!

Can I ask you about one class that I am worry? I took Microbiology like 15 years ago and I still got credit for it and didn't retake it. From your experience in the first semester, do you think that I would struggle since I remember nothing or you don't need that much of micro? If I make to the program, I will go through it myself (I bought a book). Do you think I need Micro or not? Should I spend much time on it or better repeat A&P?

Any advice is very appreciated. I have 2 months before program begins and deciding what should I study the most.

Thank you.

So far Microbiology hasn't come back as much as A&P has. If they aren't requiring you to retake Micro again you should be fine even if you don't remember much from it. Having a REALLY GOOD understanding of A&P though would be a great benefit. Knowing how all the systems work properly really helps to understand the diseases and stuff which is a big part of nursing and pharm. I hadn't had A&P in like 5 years and even when I took it I didn't do that great in it and it has been a huge disadvantage to me.

Ok, that's what I was told too. I am planing to go through some lectures on Utube by old lady. She is so great and there is like 20 A&P lectures each for 40-50 minutes. It'll help me to understand systems.

thank you

My mom is an RN and I was kind of like your son. She tried to tell me for a couple decades to go into nursing. She was right, and I am finally doing it!! Sometimes I think kids should JUST DO SOMETHING even if it's not your heart's desire. It could pay off in the long run, or at least you stop floundering around for years.

Oh, I am saying to myself the same things. You are absolutely right. The thing is that he doesn't know who he wants to be and changing his plans every month, so I am just suggesting... , but my daughter already wants to be a doctor, so I am happy for that, lol
