Nursing School Schedules...HELP?

Published

I haven't even taken the entrance exam yet and I'm already stressing out about schedules.

My husband works afternoons. But he's moving to a new plant with all new schedules sometime in late fall; so he has no idea what type of schedule he could be working.

We have three kids, with one of them not quite old enough for kindergarten. My middle child goes to a charter school where there is no busing; we drive her back and forth. My oldest is in high school, doesn't have a driver's license, so she takes a bus.

I attend Baker College of Flint (in case you'd like to know).

So what type of scheduling can I expect? Or if you'd simply like to share your schedule with me, that would be terrific.

Thanks so much.

Thanks for the great info! :) That definitely gives us a clearer picture of what to expect next semester. Do clinicals start immediately or after the first 8 weeks are over?

That would depend on which school you are at.

At my institution, the first class is 15 weeks and the clinical portion began at 7.5 weeks.

After that, every class is 7 weeks and the clinical starts the first week of lecture.

Good luck

Thanks "Boat" :), but I'll be attending MCC in the fall (preferably starting in August) and I was wondering when they start their clinicals.

Dont quote me on this because I heard MCC is changing their curriculum slightly, but I started last August and this is how it was:

First 8 weeks:

two lecture classes (back to back on Mondays)

and a 6 hour lab (which is a "clinical, but at school...you wear scrubs and stuff).

Second 8 weeks was:

lecture classes Mondays and maybe Thursdays too...but I forget.

Clinical (At the hospital) for 8 hours one day a week+4 hour lab day (at school).

Thanks for all the great information. The schedules sound challenging, but not like I thought they would be; which is somewhat of a relief!
