Nursing School Requiring a 85% test average?

My NS is requiring that a "B" or 85% test average is needed to pass fundamentals and 15% of the grade is passing the end of semester Kaplan assement proctor exam.

I am really nervous to take this class because the grading scale is so high and I'm not sure how I will survive it. Can anyone please share on their experiences of taking a nursing class that requires high testing averages and how did you survive it? Was fundamentals a rigorous/hard course for you and are there any tips you can give me?

I assume the kaplan fundamental tests are the same nationwide? We use kaplan too and I took the fundamentals last fall. It was definitely easier than the tests I had during class! I scored an 88% - which was the highest grade in my cohort, but most people did fairly well and scored in the 70's.

The program I graduated from required an 85% average. An ADN program. An we had to get a 100% on all our math tests. Some programs are like that.

Wow that is ridiculous

When i first started reading allnurses i saw that some were complaining of passing averages between 73-77% now i as I am reading about more programs I see that many programs are 80-85%.

I wonder why nursing schools have such high pass rates when other programs like PA, Pharm, and even medical school keep their passing scores around the 70-75% mark.

And I thought my program was hard we only need a 78% average to pass and a 100% on all math tests
