great suggestions! keep them coming...

are there any comfortable roomy backpacks anyone can suggest? (possibly ones without weels :)

I use one from The north face. I will have to get the name of it again, I think it's got Big in the title. Anyway, I like it and it works for what I need it too. I don't bring my text books to class though.

I was actually looking to get a nortface a cute yet roomy one. I'd greatly appreciate it if you got the name for me :)

I've had good luck with L.L. Bean backpacks. The Super Deluxe is currently my workhorse of choice: two compartments plus a laptop sleeve, and all kinds of front and exterior pockets. I use it as my overnight/weekend bag when I'm not hauling work or CE junk in it. I don't know about modern Eddie Bauer, but I had an old one (circa 1994) that I beat the snot out of for 12 years through grade school, high school and first undergrad. That thing was bombproof.

I've heard good things about North Face and Kelty daypacks, I just don't have one for comparison. (My big internal-frame hiking pack is a Kelty, and it's good, but that's probably not what you want for books...)

I agree with all of the above. It is also important to get a good stethoscope. I paid $60 for mine 13 yrs ago and still use it. Very important for hearing those subtle sounds! Good luck to you!

It's Big shot. I got it last year. It was a bit spendy though, like 100 or 110 dollars.

Yea all the northface are expensive...anything besides a wheely backpack!

Yeah I am not into the wheely backpacks either.

I use the North Face Jemma. Big, plenty of compartments (even for little things), and lots of padding on the straps.

I just checked this one out, its pretty cute. can you fit alot of big books in there?

I personally suggest a good quality digital recorder. I record my readings of the saunder's comprehensive review and my lectures. I then load these onto my laptop, change them to mp3 files and play them back at double speed on windows media player. I also download the chapter audio reviews from the evolve website for my textbooks. These I also play a double speed. This requires you to wear head phones, so you are not distracted, you will get use to it. It allows me to go through lectures and info in ahlf the amount of time and my mind doesn't wander like it does at normal speed.

I also do something completely different. I take my nursing textbooks apart and seperate them into different colored 3-rings binders according to how they will be cover in class. I will also include all class notes for that section. This makes the inforamtion for each section more portable and allows me to study anywhere.

Oh a good digital recorder is one from olympus, mine is from Best buy.

Absolutely. I also use it as my airplane carry-on, and it easily fits my large laptop (in its case), a textbook, and several notebooks in the main compartment. The smaller compartment is actually quite large too. If you're concerned about the size, try going to a store that sells it and see what you can fit in there. There are bigger bags out there, but this one holds more than I want to put on my back anyway, so it's perfect for what I need.

I bought a little index card binder from the drug store and I've been using that for my notes instead of a standard notebook. That way I can throw it in my purse and go through it any time I have a spare minute-It was a godsend at the DMV the other day, lol! It's so much less cumbersome than a big textbook or even a notebook, and having a small amt. of info on each page makes it less overwhelming.
