Hi,
I've just been selected to interview for nursing school. The interview will occur in a couple weeks at which point I'll be almost 6 months pregnant. I'm still hiding it pretty darn well, and with the right outfit I could probably be taken for not-pregnant. The nursing program I've applied to is very intense.
If I can still hide it at the time of the interview, should I tell the interviewers that I'm pregnant? I'm so afraid that they will think the program is absolutely too hard for someone with an infant. The baby will be 2 months old when I start school.
If you have any advice or experience with this sort of thing, please reply. I'd really appreciate the help!!!

I would say that since you will not be pregnant during nursing school, and so would need no accomidations made due to being pregnant (lifting restrictions/other physical limitations) or have to worry about you having to miss class/clinical time when you have the baby, it is really none of their buisness that you are pregnant now. If they can tell that you are pregnant, it would be worth letting them know that you are due well before you would be starting school so that that is not a consern. Otherwise, it is no more their buisness to know that you are pregnant then it would be to know that someone already has a young child at home.
If they ask about family resopncibilities/children, do be honest, but if it is not brought up, and they can not tell, there is no reason to tell them.

It is none of there business and I don't think legally they can base their decision on this, but that doesn't mean they won't. I applied and went to a job interview when I was 4 months pregnant and I didn't tell them. When they offered me the job I told them though. I was told by a supervisor later on down the road that if I would have told them, I probably wouldn't have gotten hired because they apparently were upset when I told them after they offered me the job. Oh well, I got the job didn't I? :)

I wouldn't tell them... no reason to give them a reason to deny you... and I believe that they absolutely would if they knew... if you can hide it.. I would!

yea don't tell them. and plenty of women look pregnant without actually being pregnant anyway.

Definitely don't tell them!!!!!!!!!!! That would be the biggest mistake.. someone on here might tell you to be "open and honest" but don't be.. it's your own personal medical "condition" and it could most def be used against you.
Thank you all so, so much for your thoughts on this. You've confirmed what I thought all along, but just wanted that support from the board to make sure I was doing the right thing. In the end if I get in, I may leave the door open for myself to defer for a year to start, but either way, I want to get accepted first and foremost.
Thank you all. I don't know what I would do without the sound advice I get from this board.
