hello all! my name is Sara!
im starting nursing school in the fall, and im OVERLY stressing myself about a question that i have, and dont know how to answer..
"do i work while going to school , or do i not"
i guess the questions i need to ask to determine that are, how hard is it?...i dont REALLY have to work, but i guess it would be nice to, im 18 yrs old streight out of high school , it isnt like i have bills or rent to pay or anything.
im also the type of person, that when in school, and in a "learning process" like to do just that, and dont like to get side tracked..i think that being a nurse, you should be as full of knowledge about your career and things you need to know to be a good nurse. i could totally see myself just really taking int seriously, is it important to do really well in nursing school?
Thanks to all who answer! it would be nice to stop stressing!
Welcome to allnurses, Sara! To answer a couple of your questions....if you do not have to work while you're going to school then don't. Consider college your full time job. Most college freshmen do not realize how hard their courses are going to be or how much study time you need to put into your classes. And freshmen classes are the easier ones of your college career...they only get more difficult, for the most part! Not trying to scare you, but it is true. If you had to work that would be a different story. Don't worry, work will always be there! Enjoy your college years, maybe towards the end do some volunteer work or get a part time job in a hospital.
And, BTW, yes, it is extremely important for you to do well in nursing school! Your career depends on it!
Remember, college and nursing school are nothing like high school... a whole new ball game!
Enjoy, have fun, study hard, and come here for questions, etc. :balloons:
