  1. i also do not believe that teachers and nurses should be compared...Salary is different EVERYWHERE...you cant really go by the National average salary. i know of nurses who make well over 60k a year here in new york, and i know some who only make 36k a year... some teachers here make 75k, in a private or highly rated public school. some make DIRT!, literally... oh.. and in NY, if you have your masters and your an NP, like my Aunt, who has been a Nurse for 23years coming up next month, you can make over 100k a year... i do agree that nurses do get paid unfairly in some places... i wish it was different, but nothings perfect right? ... All nurses have good hearts.. and knowing you have a god heart .. is better then salary! hehhe!
  2. Chevelle that is what i will be deffinately doing!.... its better then trying to read all of my scribble like 10 days later and not know what the heck i wrote down!.. hehehehe:chuckle
  3. SOOO... ive decided on in some/most classes, just using pen and paper, since i have realized coming home to neatin up my notes/type them, i re-inforce a lot, since i am forced to read my notes and concentrate on them! hehhehe...thanks!
  4. well thank god im normal, i often worry about things like that too...but being ontop of things is probrably a skill you learn really fast! GOOD LUCK! and thankx!
  5. i am a nursing student, and have recently been having the nursing jitters! i know that may sound weird!, OR maybe not! thats what i want to know.... maybe some of you can help me!...what fears did you have about your first day on the Job, experiences, Etc?
  6. Did you take notes in class with your PDA?...?
  7. Thanks to all that replied!... i was asking because... i stink at keeping things organized....i think if i used a laptop or a PDA id be able to organize really well. i currently come home from class everyday and type my notes....and to me there are no such thing as glitches! hehe got that covered... i back everything up, usually every 2 days...... i will go over all that you all posted!.... and make a decision! Thanks!
  8. Hi, my name is sara, and i am a nursing student, im not posting this on the student forum because, id like an answer from people who have already finished schooling!.. my big but not so complicated question is .... during school did anyone use a laptop? to take notes? ..do you suggest a laptop or a Pocket PC? Thanks! Sara
  9. Hey girl. my name is sara and im not exactly having the same problem as you but its kinda the same. please dont give up. im doing my pre-reqs for a nursing program(RN) right now and terrified about not getting in. i may go for the LPN route. im going to apply for both LPN and RN. i am not going into the field for money. so LPN to RN, isnt bad. if you care for people, no matter what you do will make you feel good. my Aunt was an LPN first. she is currently a nurse practitioner. that took a lot of work. she said the best thing she EVER did was get experience as an LPN before RN school. basically just get your foot in the door. i am currently, "getting my foot in the door" im working at a hospital as a nurse technician, they trained me for it for free. just being in the setting seems to help. its in a way encouraging. to me hands on learning is the best! GOOD LUCK! if you wanna chat you can email me. [email protected]
  10. Hey Tom! im on the same search as you!, lookin for an LPN program i know a few .. Email me! [email protected]
  11. Thank you i plan on coming here to ask LOTS of questions and share stories, whats better then sharing stories with poeple that can relate? hehehe Sara
  12. i just wanted to let all members know...that through all of the positive and negative posts on this forum, it is a HUGE help and a HUGE factor in my decision to start nursing school. Positive posts, because i am looking forward to all of the great things i will experience... Negative posts because, i know what im in for, and they have helped me KNOW for sure that i am ready for all that i am up against. not to mention that negative things posted, bring challenges to me, which i LOVE challenges. tho i have heard a ton of negative things about nursing i KNOW, this is for me , and only for 1 reason, none of the negative things have made me decide against a nursing career! you are all incredibly helpful!! Sara
  13. just like any job, the longer ur there, the more chances you have at making more money. my Aunt has been a nurse for 25 years this June. and she makes well over 100k+ a year (she does 3 12 hr shifts a week, and some per dium mostly every other day. she isnt burnt out at all, because she has the 12 hr shifts under control and is very used to them. as far as per dium she takes it as it comes, and does refuse to show up sometimes, and with the perk of having seniority at her hospital that is A-OK! also, i am in my first year of nursing school , SO HARD, and im not doing it for the money, tho the hospital that my schools interns go to, does Hire anyone at my college, mostly all that apply, and start them at around 60k a year. so... i guess it depends where you live etc. But, i agree, DONT do it for them money, because if thats what ur in it for, your up for a VERY RUDE awakening. if you do your job good and enjoy it, then it isnt really work:)
  14. Thanks all for the wonderful replys, i registered for classes today, and the first one is "inorganic chem"... after i heard that i decided ill take it easy, and ease my way in and just as 3rdshiftguy said, if i have the room for work, i will work, if not then i will concentrate on school. with thew classes that i have now, if i do really go i will be done in exactly 2 years, and if im capable of doing that i would like to do that. so im not gunna be such a psycho about working anymore hehehehhe Thanks to all of you! hope we all become friends, im sure ill be posting 5billion posts from here on in. Sara
