What is the database you need to use? CINAHL, Cochrane, Pubmed? You can refine your searches on them.

I can use any of those databases. And I did refine my searches already that's why I am trying to see if their is any other topics that would be easier to find information on with a nurse as an author.

I just did a search and found an article written by a nurse comparing mastectomy and lumpectomy cancer recurrence rates. (most articles seem written by MDs though)

Other topic ideas maybe music therapy, I did that last year, lots on that especially newborns. You can compare intervention of music vs other interventions or no intervention on vital signs.

I have a research project for one of my nursing classes, and I have to compare two interventions . My topic I chose was cancer, and to narrow my search down I chose breast cancer. I wanted to compare the effectiveness of having a mastectomy vs lumpectomy. However, I need two research articles with a nurse being one of the authors which I'm having hard time finding because we have to use the database. Therefore, I was wondering if their is any nursing interventions most nurses are researching that has to deal with cancer that I can use for my research project because I am really slumped on the topic I have now. Any ideas will help.

Its probably hard to find nurse authors for mastectomy vs lumpectomy because they aren't nursing interventions but medical ones. What about nursing interventions to prevent infections in patients receiving treatment for cancer? Or managing pain, pharmacological vs imagery.

I don't know how your database works. In my school's library I can type in my keywords, then refine from there. So for you, I typed in mastectomy versus lumpectomy. Then, there was an option to see only "nursing" articles (my library caters to all kinds of health professions). Then I restricted to articles published since 2008 (didn't know your time frame). Then a lot of times you have to look at the actual PDF to see all the qualifications of the authors. I found this one article and I'm providing a link through google scholar. Now, it is not for the whole article but will give you the information you need to look it up in your library. Don't be afraid to ask for help from your librarians!

Here's another more recent. As someone pointed out, it's unlikely that there will be too much research literature about outcomes of mastectomy versus lumpectomy as nurses don't really do that but might be involved in evaluating patient's experiences. This article is qualitative research, so not all numbers and statistics but important nonetheless to nursing research.
