nursing program at American River College in Sac

Published

Hi, I currently attend San Francisco State and I am planning to move to Sac this summer. I will transfer to American River College because I want to get an ADN to be an RN; I want to start my career and plus I know Cal State nursing programs are very impacted. Has anyone gone through the nursing program at ARC? Or any other community college in Sac? Please any advice about school in Sac or current nurses working around the Sac area would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

I have been accepted to the ADN program at ARC for this Fall. American River is one school with an ADN program. Sac City College and Sierra College also offer ADN programs as well. Sac City is in Sacramento and Sierra is in the Roseville area, about 15 minutes North of American River College. Best bet is to apply to as many schools in the area. I applied to both Sac City and ARC. All 3 choose students based on a lottery system. So it is best to apply to as many as possible and re-apply if you are on the waiting list. Good luck. Hope to see you at ARC!!

Yuba College in Yuba City does not choose nursing students by lottery. They go strictly by their waiting list. I spoke with the director of their program and as of last spring their wait list was 2 semesters. :)

Specializes in GI, OR, Oncology.

Butte College, in Oroville, also has an ADN program. I think there may be quite a waiting list for it as well. They used to do a lottery, but now I think they give priority to those who applied the year before. I had to wait one year to get into the LVN to ADN program. They did a lottery the first time I applied (and I wasn't one of the lucky ones), then I got right in when I applied the next year.

Best of luck to you!!
