Any help...... I have heard so much back and forth about online schools..... Honest thoughts about , Walden University... ETC.... I would like to get my BSN in the least amount of time while having not to take a bunch of Cores.

Thank You in advance......

I completed 's online RN-to-BSN program last year. It took me 10 months, 34 credits, and approximately $5,800 in tuition and fees to complete the degree.

Thank You.......That is approx how many credits I will have to get.....Any Clinicals?

So you would definetly say it was a good experience.......

There's no clinical requirement. There is, however, a 90-hour community health practicum that is self-directed. You can accrue the 90 hours by placing phone calls or arranging telephone interviews. No one will be overseeing you. There's no preceptor unless you are in California.

I enjoyed my experience with the school overall.

Specializes in SICU, NTICU.

I did my BSN in 2 semesters (30 credits) from Ferris State University in Michigan. I had a previous bachelors though, so I'm not sure how that affects required credits. I liked it because my advisor was extremely flexible. I didn't really learn anything useful, but for the most part that seems to be the standard for BSN programs. Lots of papers, group work and other busy/task work like discussion boards.

Check out University of Louisiana at Lafayette Online RN to BSN. They have 7 week nursing courses and not a lot of fluff courses to take. I'm currently enrolled in that program and love it. Good luck.

Specializes in ER, IICU, PCU, PACU, EMS.

I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette through the online RN-BSN program in December. I already had a BA, so the core courses were not a problem for me. I actually learned a lot from their courses and they were very good about keeping in touch with their students. You might want to take a look at that school. Best wishes!

What core courses did you have to have? How long is the program? And one last question when do they start?... Spring, Fall ?

HI! I ended up going with , but considered Univ. of Louisiana too---I really liked that school a lot! Tech friendly!

Like Medic2RN, I had a previous BA so at WGU I just needed BSN courses. Did it in 6 months, including practicum, and cost $3200. :x3:

They have start dates throughout the year. Check out their website for all the information. RN to BSN Online Degree | UL Lafayette Online.

Upcoming start dates for 2016: August 22nd (must apply by July 25th), October 17th ( must apply by September 19th).

Most, if not all, of the core classes you would already have done during your Associates degree. I was only missing a few core classes. I am currently taking the core classes I need at a college in my hometown.

How long their program takes depends on how if you double up on courses or not, and how many core classes you need. I doubled up in the first, second, and third "semesters". I have three more classes to take, but I will take them separately because they are too "heavy" to take together. The capstone will be my third course and that one cannot be taken with any other course anyway.

Core classes:

  • English Literature
  • Statistics
  • Chemistry
  • General Biology

  • Communications
  • Art
  • History
  • English Composition

  • General/Introduction
    to Psychology
  • College Algebra
  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Microbiology
  • 200/300 Level
    Behavioral Science
