Can anyone give me some guidance as what program I should pursue online to obtain my RN degree? I am confused as which to go with Achieve prep test program or Excelsior College.

The fine print at the bottom of the homepage for Achieve Test Prep (emphasis mine):

So, if you want to become an RN, you will need to attend a school that offers a nursing degree and will provide you with eligibility to take NCLEX.

Thank you for a clearer insight to this matter.. Sounds like I may have to go traditional and of course it's going to take me longer to finish up.

I have to chime in...Rose Queen is correct, however, not complete. Achieve test prep is not a college. However, they have online classes that help you pass the proctored tests for Excelsior. Excelsior does not have classes at all just the book work.

After each class you take, you go to a proctor location in your area, take the course test, if you pass Excelsior grants you the credit for that class. So, basically you are taking an Excelsior course and paying for online instruction.

Achieve test prep also prepares you for the clinical exam at the end of the program, Excelsior does not.

I considered this myself until I started reading the difficulties of passing the Excelsior clinicals in the 3 day weekend. To me, there is too much in the air and they are too stringent on the tests, 2mm over the wound packing and you are out of the water. It would be a lot of money spent to wind up with not passing at the end.

That is false. Excelsior College not only offers online courses, students are also eligible for federal financial aid if they take courses.

oh wow....I wasn't aware that Excelsior has live campus classes...thanks fore clearing that up...thought it was strictly online

I said online courses. They do not have in-person courses.

I am confused. I read your post that said "live campus classes," and that is not correct. Excelsior has three different options for credits now, not just the test-out exams. I am not sure where providing correct information makes me high and mighty, but I am fond of not spreading misinformation. Thanks.
