Does that mean we can apply for renewal in August? And it is nationwide or depending on the state you live in?
Does anyone know?

This must be state dependent as I've not heard this from any of the states I'm licensed in.
As most states allow renewal prior to the expiration month, why not do it now? If you wait until August it might not processed in time. And, some states have a reduced renewal fee if you renew early.
Best wishes.

License extension due to COVID-19 pandemic varies from state to state. Check your board of nursing ( BON) website for current info. It is best to apply at least 2 weeks prior to your current license expiration date so its arrival at BON office is timely; with the understanding that the PROCESSING of license is dependent upon date of receipt at BON and will be delayed, therefore some BON issued extensions.

Why would you need an extension? I always renew well in advance of my expiration date.

States like PA that had statewide stay-at-home orders (PA issued March 23) due to COVID-19 virus had state government partially close down for first few weeks until departments were able to set-up work at home for state employees. New and renewal license applications not being processed. Therefore, many licensing boards extended April to June cycle license renewal end dates.
Electronically applied for license prior to my April 30th RN license end date; PA extended all healthcare license end dates to July 31st for April-June renewal cycles. Renewal was processed on 6/1 + paper license received in mail 6/10.
